Although the city of kentaka is by no means a major city it is still along the way to some decent(sometimes major depending on the time of year) trade routes. For this reason it is widley traveled and the name for this place has spread for having the best curry in all the land. It has become a time for celebration for the city for every year around the time the cherry blossoms reach full bloom the city has a small festival around the river that runs through the center of the town. Mountains can be seen outside the city and reached within an hour or so just walking to them. *This is easily noticed by all characters, even the ones who are of the wandering type or prefer not to directly interact with people* *also note that the river runs from south to north, with it starting slightly to the s.w. running to n.e.*

For those who know the layout and look of kentaka.

Tochimaru takes note of the rumor of spirits, but first he has a greater foe to face: his hunger. His keen nose detect the smell of curry and he nimbly maneuvers himself through the crowd to find it's source. At last he spots his prey. He swiftly draws from his cloak his hidden weapon - currency - and lays it on the counter. "One, please."
Hmm.

Furzban loves the giant cherry tree, but only ever gets close to it at night when its beauty is hard to appreciate. He sits just in the edge of the forest and pines for it, while his stomach growls at the smell of fresh curry.

I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

You had a couple close calls, but people are so distracted by the festival that you seem to of gone unnoticed.

Hanako took the warning gratefully--it did, after all, tell her where in this town she could go to get a decent fight. But now, with the festival atmosphere... well, she may as well earn some money to spend on food and drink; no sense depleting her current funds.

As people walk around the festival enjoying themselves you perform a brilliant display of martial arts prowess. People clap and cheer, and encourage you to great heights, as money is accumulated in an empty bag you've placed on the ground and when its all done you come out with 14 silver pieces. More than enough to buy some food and drink.

All your hard work has made you work up an appetite, and as you finish counting the coins the smell of fresh curry catches your nose at a small establishment nearby that has a stall set up iutside to serve customers walking around the festival.

Putting on her most winning smile, Hanako walked over to the curry vendor--close enough to where she'd been exhibiting her skills throughout the day that she was certain the stall vendor must have seen it. Now, they'd definitely not given her any money, and a free meal seemed like a fair exchange for having something to watch during the day. Thus, with a brief magical boost making the nonhuman martial artist come across slightly better than normal, she decided to try her luck at getting something mild for nothing.

As you approach you notice the cook is an adult male around mid 20s and someone who is obviously his grandma is sitting in a chair near the stall.

As he is about to turn you down, granny intervines.

good for business you are dear, you bring lots of customers to the area who buy food while watching you perform. You've earned a hot meal, and a place to rest. Our family owns the inn just around the corner. Tell them gran gran sent you, and that your to be given a room to sleep in."

Rumors of ghosts in the graveyard would indeed worry Akiko a bit, but then no one seems to have tried testing for proof nor been brought to harm so a proper investigation could no doubt wait as today was a festival! And one of her favorite times of the year at that!

Walking through the many stalls, Akiko thrived in the aura of excitement that flowed through the streets. She greeted many of the townspeople she'd grown up with, played with some of the children, enjoyed a martial demonstration by a traveler, and finally decided to indulge in some of the best curry she'd ever known.

She ended up in the same food stall the performing martial artist and caught the tail-end of Granny's offer to the traveler.

"My, aren't you the sweet talker miss street performer." she says offhandedly before turning to the old woman. "Hello Gran-Gran! You're looking full of pep today again!"

"What sort of performer would I be if I had no conversational ability?" the amused martial artist replied, bowing to the old lady and sauntering off in to her destination; definitely the gait of one that had the utmost confidence in themselves and their ability... even if she was, in absolute terms, less than threatening.

Gran gran: "ah akiko, how are you today? Staying out of trouble i hope. Have you heard the rumors about the spiritsgoing around? Most eeveryone in town is to afraid or to superstitious to go to the graveyard lately even to honor their ancestors. Why i tell you if this turns out to be true it could be a big problem. As if we didn't have enough with the mist that comes out every night. Why if only i was as young as you again i could go take care of them myself like i used to.

Nyaaaaaaa~, they're getting loud again.  Time to wake up.

Within the branches of the sakura's trees lividly painted blossoms stirred the shape of a louging fat orange tabby cat.  He had slipped amongst the branches who knows how many hours ago and the shade of the tree and the warmth of the air was simply too much for him to resist.  It was like this every time he came to Kentaka, his home away from home.  Not that the wandering feline had any true home, but if he did he might have called this tree his own personal castle.  He spent a good deal of time as a cat, it was easier to bum food off the locals that way.  His favorite activity was stealing fish from under Isano's shop, knocking over things from the shelves, and then getting out of trouble by acting cute in front of the children.

It was a pretty good racket he had going on.  Of course, its even better with money and so he had pulled off his human trick more than once to appear as that dasterdly traveling minstrel and magician.  He was planning to try and pull it again when the festival began, but laziness had overtaken him and now he was late.  Not too late hopefully, the sounds of celebration danced in the air from not far away.  He was slow to rise and spent a moment relaxing but awake upon his branch.  Delicious smells wafted his way reminding him to eat before entertaining on an empty stomach, and some interesting sounds too.  The gossiping women passing below revealed all sorts of things.

"I tell you, the graveyard is haunted!  I heard that Ashitaka went to pay his respects to his dear grandpa, and you won't believe this, there were ghost lights already there at the grave.  And shadowy figures!  I even heard something tried to grab him."

"You don't really believe that do you?  He probably saw his own lantern reflecting on something shiny."

"I don't know, but the boy was white as a ghost.  I have heard things too, it sounded like someone groaning right outside my walls, but when I looked there was no one there."

Now that was interesting.  Usually when there was rumors he was the start of them.  He just loved how a little tall tale could explode into something completely new around the gossiping sorts.  But this one... he didn't start this rumor.  How curious, has he gotten competition?  Well, it's decided.  He'll just have to make this ghost story scarier.

First thing first, a meal.  He slipped gingerly out of the tree, landing safely in a patch of grass and cleaning himself off before proudly marching into the festival under the feet of others.  Why, there's a curious red-headed girl he's not seen before speaking to the old hag Gran-Gran.  He'll just rub up on her leg and parley for some of her food.  How can you resist this furry face?

"Mao~"
Mudada.

As yukimura recieves her food from the chef and turns to saunter off with her meal she find an orange tabby cat swishing back and forth between her legs meowing and pawing at her obviously wanting a bite of her food, which smells so delicious.

Strange mist? And a haunted graveyard too. A worried look set in her eyes but she quickly waved it off and offered again a smile. "Don't worry Gran-Gran, your number one star will take care of everything! I'll make sure the rumors are just that, rumors!"

The cat got a rather odd look as it poked her in the leg--but, not being the sort of socialised person that viewed 'feeding a cat' as a good idea and having too large an appetite to want to share, managed to get away with poking her for all of ten seconds, before a foot was hooked under its stomach  and the small mammal sent flying away. Then Hanako started walking away, eating and praying that the curry wasn't a spicy one.

As the orange tabby flys away mewling and yukimura continues walking, as she takes her first bite of the curry she is stopped dead stunned by the taste. It's almost as if the curry was made specifically to her liking.

The orange tabby saunters off trying to find a meal elsewhere in the festival.
