new Iron Kingdoms RPG

Anyone else looking forward to the new Iron Kingdoms RPG coming out soon? I really want to get my hands on it so I can play a warcaster and have my own personal giant killer steam robot...

Other than that what I have heard about the system so far has been pretty good and if anyone can make a balanced game it is privateer press

I'm an Iron Kingdoms fan myself, and Privateer Press puts a lot of labor and love into their work.  I'm certain that it will be quality material.

However, their forte seems to be miniature wargames.  Iron Kingdoms d20 was cool and neat, but they tried too hard to shoehorn some things into the D&D system.  I am wondering how they're going to incorporate firearms; will they be common and prevalent (like in the miniatures game), or rare and expensive with swords and crossbows in the majority?

I imagine firearms will be everywhere, the basic trooper armament of both large human factions (Cygnar and Khador) is a rifle.
Based on the current warmachine/hordes stuff there is no way it could be otherwise. 

Plus we already know there will be a gunmage career.

I hadn't even heard of it.  The rules for their d20/D&D game were pretty atrocious, though.

Just had my first game last night. Looks pretty good. Kind of gave me a 4E vibe in regards to magic but it was highly tactical, which I can appreciate.

Managed to get my hands on a friends copy and I have to say the system is an optimisers dream, there are a huge number of options and each seems pretty well balanced hat first glance at least (considering the wargame is one of the best balanced things I have ever come across this is not surprising). The system for generating characters is also extremely interesting.

Got to look at the character creation section.  This game looks well balanced and actually pretty awesome.

Help a /tg/ newb out, what's the best way to search /tg/ for what you are looking for?


Also, has anyone found a good online place to buy the book? A discount would be nice. Amazon only has them second hand and all my local hobby/book stores are either sold out or don't have any.

I don't think there is a search function... I dont really go on there that often, I get my books from legal sources.


If we could get enough people together I would love to give the system a try as a PbP. Probably not running it myself though, I have issues unless I am intimately familiar with all the core mecanics which is a problem I know not everyone has

There's a thread on TGD about it, but they're primarily locating the broken/gimped stuff.

The thread might be useful for making sure you don't get too powerful/useless in the game(Iron Fang Lancer appears to be overpowered).  I don't have the RPG yet, so I can't confirm their observations.

I'm building a melee-monster ogrun if anyone has any suggestions.  :love
