"Level" = Class or character level?
« on: July 02, 2017, 08:19:10 AM »
I am building a fighter-style character for an upcoming game, and I have been thinking of dipping into the Kensai ACF from DragMag 310. One of its features say that I get +1 to hit and damage at level 1, level 5, and every 5 levels again after that. Usually this kind of ability will explicitly say "class level", but this one does not. Does the ability continue to scale after I multiclass out of fighter?

It's not explicitly stated, but I think it's heavily implied that it's Kensai Fighter level.

By default, "level" always means class level, at least to my understanding.

Yes. If it's mentioned in a class ability, and it doesn't otherwise specify, it means levels in that class.

Gotcha.

I just had to make sure, as squeezing every last bit out of what I get is vital to survival. As my build is now, I am barely reaching an attack bonus of 40 by level 20, and thus it is hard to hit most high-level threats even before power attack. Those extra +4 would have helped.
