<Complaining about LoZ SP Edition's free handouts>
Personally, I think they should have just called it The Legend of Zelda: Millennial's Expectations.
I just have to say, you do know that any adult under 40 is a millenial don't you?
And so we are clear here. That is not an example antagonistic language, baiting, or any form of an intended insult using an incorrect definition of a word in order to imply it?

feedback system for appeals. All actions they take also come with an explanation and multiple warnings are issued before any temp bans are.
this very much was the case at one point in time; but I can tell you from first hand experience that this is absolutely no longer the case. just fyi.
That was part of my point.

Of course not. We don't have a Staples in Brazil. And if I DID have armor, the lack of mobility would mean it would get stolen before I could start the wind-up for the kick.  :p
You need some kind of carbon nanotube ninja gi.

Also for some reason I thought you sold office supplies. >.>

Forgive my ignorance on board programming language, but how come the function itself works, then? Is it not a matter of assigning a shortcut to it?
Because the mod Strat got to work doesn't offer a button in the first place.

Sadly most of them don't. Like I'm no SMF expert but it's pretty easy to grasp Post is where the stream of information is converted from bbcode to actual HTML and devise your own code using string.Replace. I mean you basically do something like this.
Code: [Select]
string.replace( /[spoiler]/gi, "<button type="button" onclick="{ if ( document.getElementById('Spoiler1').style.display == 'block' ) { document.getElementById('Spoiler1').style.display = 'none'; } else { document.getElementById('Spoiler1').style.display = 'block'; } }">Spoiler: Show/Hide</button><div id="Spoiler1" style="display: none;">" );
string.replace( /[\/spoiler]/gi, "</div>" );
In php & jquery. So it's really simple to write any text substitute you want to create new tags. But adding a button is done through GenericControls which calls context and runs through an array and like I'd have to read into it to figure out where the heck you set up the onclicks for them because I have no idea. And apparently no many people bother with figuring that out either. The easy way is to just look at a mod that already does it, but meh.

For what it's worth, I find that my initial contacts with board members tend to come off as abrasive until they realize they can't take what I'm saying all that seriously 80% of the time.
Whaaaaat? You mean you don't round house kick people back to life at Staples while wearing a full suit of armor? Shame shame :p

I hated the karma system even through I was the second highest member (no one can compete with Prime!). Like should people have the ability to censer what they want to hear or not? One the one hand no one should be subjected to Youtube comments but on the other you get results that can be seen on Reddit which create the kind of monsters that would ban people for posting the part of Microsoft's user agreement to prove inaccuracies in their incorrect beliefs. I think certain disagreements are inherently helpful and that there are better and more productive means, such as learning to step back or how to try and pull useful information out of bad sources, rather than resorting to pure censorship.

Not having backwards compatibility when your modifications are done via XML is pretty impressive, given that it's a pretty descriptive format...
Yeah but it's still limited to what search can find and compare too.

Arguing with you about things outside of homebrew or Char Op is always pointless.
Ahh I see. That's what you meant by things would get serious.

Well maybe my messages seem to be "antagonistic". I'm not really sure. It's something that rarely comes up and always from something that's turned defensive and dismissive. And to me it almost always appears rooted in their inherently biaist stream of altered tones and flip-flopped emphasis their inner voice says from while reading my text too because I always feel like I've had to continually point out they are taking things the wrong way. And somehow that just makes things worse.  :-\

All well, I still don't hate you Nan for trying to correct me with your usage of a term to try and make it seem like I was insulting my self or even for trying continuing what you think is an argument even if you hate various attributes of me. Beer?

Ravenloft 3.5 Revised / Re: [Race] Half-Vistani
« on: October 19, 2018, 02:33:48 PM »
Some ideas for quick-fixes:
I like Gaseous Form better than Invisiblity, plus it won't overlap with a 2nd level Monk.

Neither Chain Nor Shackle (Su): Once per day, the Corvara giomorgo can assume Gaseous Form as per the spell of the same name without requiring any somatic components. This ability only requires a immediate action, but lasts only until the end of the same round.
...
Temporal Slide (Su): The Zarovan can manipulate time as it moves, allowing him to seemingly disappear and reappear elsewhere instantaneously. As a free action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity, the Zarovan moves his current speed (following the normal rules for movement). The Zarovan can use this ability a number of times per day equal to his Dexterity modifier (minimum of 0). He can use this ability only once per round.
Supernatural Abilities don't provoke AoOs or require Somatic Components.

Short gist when deciding between an Sp or Su is if you want people to be able to prevent it or not. Like Spell-Likes provoke an AoO, check SR, and can be Dispelled but Supernaturals cannot.

Mods in SMF are installed using an XML file that injects the code into the scripts. The problem is SMF doesn't really like dealing with backwards compatibility so older mods typically don't work. I'm not even sure there is a spoiler mod with a button for 2.0.15 or I would have brought it up a while ago. :(

The mod would be Strat. He's a mod.
Nah, the moderators went through a loose hiring to moderate the forum according to the creator's rules and have both a series of logged events subject to peer review and feedback system for appeals. All actions they take also come with an explanation and multiple warnings are issued before any temp bans are. And if I'm not mistaken they also have a green colored name and it says moderator below that. Using an appeal to become forum host to promote your self above everyone else, deleting arguments you've been in to respin the events in a later telling, kicking people for fun, and enforcing your own personal view of things rather than the forum's decades long history of handling things sounds to me like something else entirely.

And the fact that you just start fights for fun and then drop them when you get bored would be the thing that I would have ranted about.  :P
Did you consider it a fight? My main point that millennial is a subjective term used by people with little understanding about it is something you helped prove and you never refuted it. You seem to have no real problem with me calling the entire thing pointless either.

What you could rant about is how no one ever knows what I'm up to.
And I like it like that. :D

It probably wasn't actually ranting but it would have gotten there soon enough most likely.
I think you overvalued my concern over a pointless language debate.

wow...bunch of grumpy old men look what you did..you cause the mod to appear with red text.
What mod?

On another tangent through, I think this is the right video.

I did link the right video but here is a time correction. Watch to about 6:20 to get the main point. Then you can disagree with it, close the video in disgust, claim you are way better than that, offer up the excuse that it's not your problem/fault, then type up a nasty message to reply with you millennial scum:shakefist

then i stumbled on to this in my facebook Memories feed

I like it.

Ranting at people isn't allowed in the rant thread. That's new.
Were we actually ranting? Like I thought it was pretty clear I was poking at yoy for the fun of it

Also I'd just like to say I called it. About six months ago I think.

Sorry, I don't look for loopholes in normal everyday conversations because that's not how normal socializing works.
Do you now? So why did you follow up with an appeal based on your personal definition on what is or isn't an adult with someone you whose opinion isn't something you care about?  :poke :poke :poke

I have no idea why you would throw the age of 16 out there.
Via emancipation most 16 year olds can legally considered adults. This can go as low as 14 if you live in the state of California. So for comparison, the US census bureau described the Baby Boomer generation to cover 19 years and with your ambiguity in already loosely defined term you are trying to cover up to 26 years. Whoopdeedoo indeed, so I think we can see why we both know that I don't care about your personal scale. :P

being a latchkey was nice.... and no cameras for evidence...
I know right?

They have a freaking term for it now. It's called "free range parenting" (opposed to simply parenting). There is a famous 2009 book released explaining how to do it and why it's good for your children. 2009, the trend already cycled out and back in again almost ten years ago. Do you feel old yet?

This may come as a bit of a shocker to you, but you have no idea what you're talking about.

Pew Research Center, which has a bit more authority than most, submitted an article on why they think a birth range of 1981~1996 (or in 2018, ages 22~37) are "millenials". And it's basically based on being 5~20 years old during the 9/11 attacks, which a lot of other groups base their deals on as well, rather than say for example growing up during the aftermath of the 1982 recession or remembering life during the Cold War or the AIDS epidemic. And I'm sure that isn't any sort of biaist choice in events by 25 year old annalists at all:rolleyes

Generation X, popularized by MTV and Pepsi, covers the mid-1960s to early 1980s and Harvard defines it as 1965~1984. While Generation Z covers the mid-1990s to mid-2000. Generation Y, aka the "millenials", should follow suit and cover a 20 year age group of 1985~2005, which really would have put 9/11 as a highlight of their life. But we don't actually have that. Instead 8 year olds on social media to college seniors are simply lumped into the "millenial" category along with middle aged adults. Which for example, is why you think every "adult" (16? 18? 21?) under the age of 40 counts even through we're talking about three generations here.

I base my scale on something a little different; The social mentality. Like Gen X was known to be a bunch of cynical latchkey children with no goal or aim in life but in midlife they have a happy work/life balance while being some of the hardest workers in the US since WWII. While Gen Y is mostly known for growing up with interpersonal communications, freebie rewards, the sudden increase in narcissism leading to SJW crusades and refusing to take the blame for anything. And their only current life accomplishment is the legalization of the psychogenic drugs they use to make them selves feel better.

Apparently on the 10th Nintendo released Legend of Zelda SP for their online subscription content.

This rom-hack of the old NES game starts you out with six hearts, the white sword, magical shield, blue ring, power bracelet, 8 bombs, arrow access, blue candle, meat, one red potion, 9 keys, and 255 rupees. Hearts also apparently drop more frequently and all beneficial caves are automatically uncovered for you. The guy in the cave, and the meme it's dangerous to go alone, are gone. The game also comes with full maps and general tips according to it's icon. Needless to say it's already earned the nickname The Legend of Zelda: Living the life of luxury!

Personally, I think they should have just called it The Legend of Zelda: Millennial's Expectations.

Really?  I hadn't heard that before.  Looks like I need to update my ranks in Knowledge Biology then.
Here is an article on paternal mtDNA.
And a Ted Talk video about X-Inactivation (sic calico cat example).
If paternal mtDNA beats the odds and is present then reasonably every cell built on it's division would carry the paternal-sided mitochondrial. Like the guy's muscles in the article, they only made their breakthrough because out of all the odds they finally pull a sample from someone that had such a region. You'd have to test every single cell of a decent sample pool of humans to truly get an idea of the amount and even where it can be so we're still a long way off from really understanding it.

but if you know anything about mitochondria inheritance that makes sense.
That paternal mitochondria inheritance was confirmed in 2004 and that the "mitochondrial Eve" was just another terrible conclusion tabloids drew from limited observation?  ;)

It turned out most of your mtDNA comes from your mother, but you actually have around a negligible amount of cells in your body right now that use mtDNA from your father. And I have to say mixed genes is pretty fascinating to look up. Like during initial divisions certain markers get turned off (or activated) but there is no cohesive agreement yet. We went over something this in my A&P using a Calico cat. The hair color marker for house cats is apparently stored on the X chromosome. Skin cells with active X chromosomes from the mother grow one series of colors while skin cells with X chromosomes from the father grow another series resulting in the normal triple color pallet of red/black/white. Thus most calcio cats are female, but if it's male it more than likely suffering from the Klinefelter syndrome (it's sex is XXY, oh and spoiler alert that's a thing too) and it'll probably be infertile.
