can Sav Species racial progs get Tiers ?
« on: August 18, 2018, 03:14:10 PM »
 :??? real question.

Doing the math to convert the LA levels into
real ones, makes say equivalent d5.7 hit dice,
or 1.3 skills per level, same with saves.
Easy enough, though mostly a tier 5 or 6 idea.

But it's not just a matter of how normally strong they are
but also how many options are left when the prog is done.

So like Carnivore's fave the Pixie is almost Tier 0 on it's casting amazeballs,
BUT it's hd skills and saves are hideously dangerous.
That'd make it a fragile Tier 3 , yet could qualify for Nar Demonbinder easily.

Worth doing such an oddball hash ?

Monsters cannot multiclass out of their Savage Progressions, keep that in mind.

Yes.

Well let me qualify that, as a mostly yes.
PAO or Wish or the SS super Wish ritual
are all very expensive ways of getting out.
And 99% not worth doing.

Air Elemental and the elementals in general, are a problem.
If you turn back to p20 it has the Small + Medium details listed.
The smalls should be 2rhd+4la and can Advance to be Mediums.
The progression as written doesn't do that and can't do that,
either small to medium , or either to large.  It only works for Large
in special isolation.  The prog is "correct" at it's last level only.

It's possible that levels 1 and 2 are right.  It's also possible that
"Large+Elementals" are completely different creatures from
"Small+Elementals" or "Medium+Elementals" or say "Huge+Elementals".
This particular argument took place early in 4e too.
