"Turn around please.  I need to make sure you're people.  I know how that may sound, but there's an explanation."

Constable Jones complies.  He has ... some interesting scars...

Reluctantly, and with great difficulty, Wilfred unbuttons his massive overcoat. A grand total of six pistols hang from loops of leather sown in the sides. He then Removes his shirt, to prove that he is, in fact, a human.

"Good sir, in times like these, I do not begrudge your precautions."

Robert strips off his buff coat and shirt, careful not to crush any of the contents of his pockets. He turns around slowly.

Will takes off his coat, unties his cravat and unbuttons his shirt, showing more than a few scars on his back and chest, though not nearly as many nor as alien as those seen on Jones' back.

Eric takes off his jacket, set it on the ground, and lifts up his shirt.

"Good enough?"

Wilfred decides to pass the time by striking up a conversation with Jones.

"You know what I don't understand, chap? Slavers. The practice is abhorent, and simply undefendable. And yet these colonial fellows can't get enough of it."

He laboriously buttons his coat up again.

Very, very slowly, Harry undoes the buttons on his shirt one by one, dropping it over his shoulders and turning slowly around. Until the last minute, he kept his eyes on the man.

Harry's back has few scars, though a good few. One long, shallow cut, and something in his lower back that might have been deep, but looks small.

Eric interjects. "A lot of money in it, from what I understand. On both sides.

I know, because I've won some of that money in card games. Heh heh."

Eric tucks in his shirt and tosses on his coat.

To the man: "So, what exactly were you looking for. I've seen some weird stuff, but not people with weird stomachs."

Jimmy puts his shirt back on, scowling at this whole waste of time.

Eric does as instructed. He grabs his rifle back when he gets his horse.

Jones to Wilfred: "It makes much more sense if you realize whats behind it."

As you all sit down at the table the farmer gives you some meager cider and food.

"I'd serve better but these are hard times.  I haven't been able to make it far enough from the farm to warn anyone either.  I've been holding out here hoping someone would show.  How did you get through?  Are any of my neighbors still around?"

"Not so far. Two homes we've visited are kept by the dead, one with a man driven completely mad. He died shortly after we arrived. We've come from Philadelphia, which is being barricaded in case of troops, though I'd hardly call it safe."

"We'll want to keep an eye on your horses. If they don't get to the horses you can warn Philadelphia!"

"They come out at night mostly. "

"Money, eh? I had hoped we had progressed beyond our basest impulses. I must confess that does not surprise me. If the colonials want to have the rights of British citizens, they must be bound by British laws."

Wilfred turns to Dresden " Does it really matter what "they" are? I would rather not be forced to find out, I must confess."

"I wish I knew.  If I knew what they were maybe I'd know what to do about them.  They took my horses and family before I returned home.  It left me with no way of getting out of their range.  I'm assuming they're holing up in one or more of the local farms during the day, but I've tried the ones in walking distance and found nothing."
