and pinning complicates that
I don't really see how.  It doesn't state that you lose your Dex bonus, while at the same time defining that you do take a straight penalty to AC (meaning they gave thought to how it affects AC, and decided not to have it cause losing Dex to AC.) (Though the penalty to AC is against the same people who you already lose your Dex bonus to AC against).

It may not be the answer that makes sense, but it's not complicated - you do not lose your Dex to AC vs the person who pins you.

pinning complicates, since it changes the base grappling #s

i dont think i ever said or implied you lost your dex vs you grappler/pinner.

Pxy - i agree.

i think we are slightly talking different things.

Yep. I agree.

I quoted the "pinned" part because that is what will affect the victim of a grapple. The no dex part you posted refers to the one "winning" the grapple. At least, that's how I read. Now, if what you quoted applies to both sides, then I'm a happy guy.

Anyone can confirm this?

pinned is a separate additive part of grapple

both people are grappling, one or the other may be pinned.

neither has to be pinned.

pin is an option you can try while grappling.

i think we are slightly talking different things.

if your just grappling, then (to me) it looks like you just need regular conditions to get your SA dice.

if you are pinned, your screwed. if your pinned, i think all you can do is possibly talk (if allowed, aka spellcasting) or try to escape the pin.

i do not see any real specifics for "immobile"

Quote
Grappling Consequences
While you’re grappling, your ability to attack others and defend yourself is limited.

No Threatened Squares
You don’t threaten any squares while grappling.

No Dexterity Bonus
You lose your Dexterity bonus to AC (if you have one) against opponents you aren’t grappling. (You can still use it against opponents you are grappling.)

No Movement
You can’t move normally while grappling. You may, however, make an opposed grapple check to move while grappling.

reread, to make sure, srd sneak attack grapple

sneak attack only mentions dex to ac as a condition... the usual.

grapple has "grappling consequences"

that says if your grappled you loosed dex to ac except against who your grappling.

================

sounds to me like you still only need to deny dex to ac. same ol same ol.

also a part of SA is flanked, has flanking / grapple been addressed anywhere?

==========

other than the regular conditions, is grapple/SA covered anywhere else?

granted, a directory its self is not a whole database.

didnt exactly mean to say the single directory was.

or by date or sub location or several other descriptors.

especially once you move past FAT partitions, files systems are increasingly databasey.

once you get to journalling, im not sure of a better way to describe it than as a database.

not that i disagree w/ you.

[wifi]

first question :

do you have access to a good half way point between you and the source wifi?

second interjection:

for residential purposes 60 meters is a long way for wifi.

thrid observation:

repeaters add lag but speeds can stay high.

a cable would be the best solution, if physical obstructions were not a problem.

fourth how:

a repeater is a wifi router that blindly repeats signals to and fro.

when i had one setup, i used a router that was dd-wrt compatible.

i googled something like "repeater dd-wrt"

it provided a step by step instruction that i didnt memorize.

something like this http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge is what i found before.

fifth afterwards:

to rig wifi at work we attempted a long distance connection, about 1/2 to 1/2 mile line of sight.

we bought 5w routers.

most routers are closer to 120mw.

competitive wifi groups use 1w and can get a connection over 237ish miles, point to point. but this is without obstruction using satellite antennas pointed at each other.

http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/19/venezuelans-set-new-wifi-distance-record-237-miles/

sixth the hybrid.

how from from the source can a cable be ran? or how far from you can a cable be ran?

if you can cut the distance from one side w/ a hard cable then wifi the rest, you should get better results.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: What makes a good character sheet?
« on: February 29, 2012, 11:11:44 AM »
on the rare occasion that i get to play a real table game, i use a binder.

i print a copy of my race and class basic info. this goes in a binder pocket. its little used but fast to find.

i put the quick lookup stuff in sleeves on the left side.

then a page for long term notes. turn that sleeve over for the first pc page, basic info. stats, saves, abilities, feats.

next sleave combat info if it needs lots of room. if not it goes on the first pc page. (i dont go to much trouble for combat info if im a level 1 mage....)

then expanded abilities, then spell selections and quick spell info (dc's and what not).

after all that is equipment / possessions.

in the right hand pocket goes printouts of abilities and spells that are likey to need looked up.

i also include a floating scratch sheet.

in effect the pc sheet is maybe 6 pages, not very cramped. and maybe a dozen support pages.

i know a feat that will give you full spell (targeted at you) immunity for the cost of an action (dont recall if its a full round or standard).

its setting specific and no one uses it much.

Gaming Advice / Re: Halfling Human Rider
« on: February 27, 2012, 12:32:14 PM »
we have had games that had halfling mount human combos...

backpacks got used. (w/ escape hatches in the bottom)

it was much less mount than just ride / dex checks to not loose your actions.

a big upswing is the halfling being able to use the 'mount' as cover.

overall it worked best at lower levels.
