The Hastro goes from scowling at the Hegwyd to outright glaring at the hunched figure.  "Magic is strength, how do you not see that!  I do agree, power and money rule all and money only because it can buy more power."

"I've seen too many strong 'mages' brought down by a single blow, is all I'm saying." the hunched figure muttered. "I can understand it, but... Eugh. Nevermind." Shaking his head, he moved closer to the group. "...Apologies."

The Champion shook his head. "I am too far from home, and... overstep... my place." The words were obviously hard for Aodhan, but he said them anyways. "Again. My apologies. Are you all... together? ... Or are you just meeting together?"

"If I may answer this question... I'd say our meeting was coincidental. A few philosofical disagreements here and there to heat up a conversation tend to help making friends... Or enemies." Brennus tries to be the mediator in this... Ethical battle? His face is clearly tense.

"Now... It might be a little premature of me, but how about we go somewhere to have a drink?" A few gulps of ale can help us all... Perhaps we could even talk more about our points of view too... This time without offending anyone. How about it?" For a second, the man has a feeling that taking this group to the bar might be even MORE disastrous.. But the feeling quickly fades.

Tomas chimes in loudly with "Now THAT is the wisest thing I've heard all day! Come on, I know just the place, where the women are cold and the ale is warm... or something like that." He laughs and begins to hum a jaunty tune as he turns to lead whomever follows out of the market square.

"Your intent is noble, human, but I don't see ale lowering anyone's tensions. Not that I expect any could keep up with me, least of all you mages." Cadwgan smiles as he folds his arms across his chest.

Intimidating though the Hastro's presence was, Cade was damned well not going to acknowledge it. He had worked too hard to build a sense of pride in the first place; he certainly wasn't going to let anyone damage it, let alone some self-important Hastro.

This Human, on the other hand, had some measure of honor, even if he seemed a bit too thinky for Cade's liking.

The Heginyn, however... He acted completely unlike those he had heard stories of. He seemed like the low-caste back home, all too ready to let someone walk over him just to let a conflict vanish. The Biyou pushed the thought away. He didn't want to think about it.

"What are you talking about, Master Cadwgan? We have a fine performer with us here... Drinking among while appreciating fine music is bound to help. That, and not talking about how many slashes are needed to kill a mage."

The Hastro draws himself up to his full height, standing roughly seven and a half feet tall.  He wears a deep red robe, the kind that makes you wonder if it would show blood stains, and it is tailored in a way to make him look more imposing.  There is a chain wrapped around his waist and locked there with a dagger at one hip and a belt pouch at the other.

Strange whorls cover his face, and those that have had past experience with Hastro know that this isn't naturally a part of his race but they don't seem to be tattoos either.  He smiles in what looks to be a placating manner.

"If we are going to drink together then we should introduce ourselves.  I am Fritjof, and I will meet any challenge."  His smile widens, showing perhaps a few too many teeth.  "Besides, it is only polite for the one who invited us all to buy the first round."

"I am Aodhan." the Heginyn said in response, and looked up at the tall Hastro. Yes, that one could have been a good slave. But Aodhan couldn't take him back home, not with everyone watching. He was out here to get away from that, anyways, after all. His people needed to rely on themselves and work, not... eurgh. Drink. A drink would be nice. "Now then, let's go have those drinks."

"Very well, Fritjof. I am Tomas, and I challenge you, and our other companions, to accompany me for a night of drunken revelry in the glorious skycity of Adeinia! If at the end of this night, you still believe there is nothing of value to be found here, in one of the only bastions of magical might in the lands... after all the city still flies, does it not?... then perhaps I will agree with you, and we can depart this forsaken place for better lands.

Besides, I don't think I've seen as diverse a group as ours since the last bazaar past through here nearly a decade ago. I can't pass up the chance to get to know you all, and what brought you here!"

Although Tomas is only proposing to go drinking, he delivers it as a showman might introduce the greatest show in the world, but with a hint of wry sarcasm hidden thinly underneath his feigned enthusiasm.

Having had an evening involving rather too much to drink, the company awakens to the sounds of shouts, curses, and above all else the sound of buildings crumbling to the ground. As their feet hit the floor, they can feel the building they are in shaking, and the shaking growing worse. Already, one of the torches has fallen from the wall and is spreading a pool of flame onto the floor, the old wooden structure the perfect fuel for a bonfire.

The room they are in is simple and old, what was once the building's attic filled with beds. It possesses a single window, small and round in the northern wall, while the stairs down are a simple ladder to the floor below through a trapdoor, suitable for one person at a time. The fire, though, is already near to the trap door, and is beginning to lick at the edge of the coping.

As the company begins to assess the situation, new sounds join the cacophony and tumult that surrounds them. Screams and wails drift up through the planking, and with them the groaning of the structure of the building, the ancient joists beginning to part under the strain of the vibrations.

Waking up to the chaos around him, Fritjof immediately takes charge as is his right.

"Wake up!" He yells at any of his companions that seem a little too slow for his liking.  He then speaks to everyone in a commanding and somewhat menacing voice.  "We need out of here and we need out of here now.  The people below us are dying, this building is a death trap.  Who has rope?  Break that window, tie the rope off, and let us climb out of here!"

Tomas, at a loss for words for once, pulls a rope out of his backpack and begins tying it around the leg of a bed. As he is tying it, he finally speaks "Worst case scenario... the city falling... I can turn myself and a couple others into birds. At least we'll be alive, and we can try to find a way to reverse it later."

The Heginyn, in the midst of reaching into his pack, notices that Tomas already has a rope out and grabs the other end, whipping his chain against the window and tossing the rope out as he finishes clearing out the glass from the edge of the window with a gloved hand, in order to make it easier to climb through. "Tomas! Done with the knot? Then let's go go go! I would rather not be a bird!"

Realizing that if he orders these people around too much they might come to resent him, Fritjof restrains from saying anything else or attempting to clamber to safety.  Things are turning out nicely, these people could be worth keeping around.

He then remembers that they're currently in a life or death situation, but his natural charisma can't help but take over even if his diplomacy skills are rusty.  "Strongest climbers should go first, you can move faster and have a higher chance of getting out of this alive.  I'll go last, otherwise I'd slow everyone down."

There, he thinks to himself.  Now they'll think I'm not such a bad guy after all.

Tomas yells "Got it!" and grabs his gear, heading towards the window.

Had that Hastro merchant predicted this would happen? Had he been sent to his untimely demise? No. he thought. I just need to think.

He felt the sweat pour down the side of his face as Fritjof gave orders. Not helping. There is no time to be afraid...

It was a good thing Cade traveled light; As such, he had hardly anything to grab in order to exit the quickly-deteriorating building. Grabbing onto the rope, the Biyou begins lowering himself out the window.
