For the Death God's Chosen
-
Need a better image hosting site, apparently.
-
Not able to share?
-
Watermarks it. Didn't used to a couple years ago.
-
Well that's rather unpleasant of them. All that will do is drive away business
-
I recommend Catbox (https://catbox.moe/). That hoster has been around for 4 years, is run as someone's hobby instead of with the goal of making profit and relies on Patreon instead of ads to re-finance the costs.
-
Posting here so I don't forget.
-
Already lined up and ready?
-
I'm done asking.
-
No questions here, just sorted out my equipment.
-
Alright, will pop up a long post tonight or tomorrow morning.
-
Is there a particular animal you're looking for, Sky?
-
Mostly looking for critters with good HD. Good Con is also a plus for use with Minor Shroud Self + Morphic Ritual for when the original ritual runs out.
-
Animals are usually decent for that kind of thing.
-
Ball's still in your court
-
Skyrock: Don't forget to put in your purchase order
Raineh: At this, you'll have to tell me what the goal is and how long you want to train for
-
The goal is to teach them the very, very basics of formation--if they can already hold a spear and stab with it, great! Line up and be a pointy wall. If you've got a bow, go behind that. The sort of thing you can probably drill into people in a day (or two, I don't know how long we'd expect to have before the Kier show up again). Won't be able to do anything about morale, so just teach them to be a not-so-soft target.
Anything that would encourage going for the stronger, but NOT stood shoulder to shoulder with someone else targets.
Though admittedly, hopefully this village isn't too open or they can back up against something.
-
There is the small wooden wall, but that's about it. It's as much against predators as against any form of combatant.
-
I've cast
Rush of Blood Speed of the Fallen. Now I can win a foot race with a Kier :D
Have also deducted -30gp for the cow (the average of AD&D 1E and PF costs).
EDIT: Changed Ritual as per Discord comment.
-
Finding out all the little editing mistakes for Ritual Magic, sigh...
-
The tragedy of playtesting.
-
Ones like that just annoy me though, because I missed something basic. Oh well.
-
Maybe I'm not getting something obvious, but what is the plan here? She's gonna go out on the field, get them to run at her, then lead them back to us?
-
Walk away from the group at regular speed, with Jarn hidden nearby enough to alert me of hidden Kier. When I am close enough, I will make a sudden dash with my enhanced speed towards the Kier and keep it engaged in melee range.

-
Just going to point out that Kier see a lot better than normal folks at night due to their Lifesense feat. They just get to it a different way than normal darkvision or low-light vision.
-
I have missed that because it isn't in the usual place races have special senses listed. Fixed my IC post.
-
Welcome to WotC world - technically it's not a special sense, it's just a feat. Of course, said feat makes everyone glow like a damn bonfire even at night, so it obviously has a massive impact on vision.
-
How do you want Venn to introduce himself? The easiest is to just have him jog up during daytime.
-
For what it's worth, Madoc would likely be attempting to track Kier and come across this settlement, probably approaching it for the same reasons the party did. Given that it's morning, he'd probably expect it to be relatively safe to approach the village, despite the likelihood that neither he nor its inhabitants would trust each other easily. In his reasoning, anyway. If Jorn is patroling again, he might also notice Madoc slinking from a distance, though that might be an opposed roll of its own.
-
If you and Omck want to do it that way, more than welcome to go ahead.
-
Skyrock can get a cow for the same price as previously, if he wants.
-
In the words of a famous troublemaker: "Don't have a cow, man."
-
Venn:
You find a trio of paw prints, the wrong shape to be a wolf's, and they're pointed northeast.
-
As usual, I'll let you lot discuss matters before having something happen.
-
I can give a good defensive buff to make this an easier fight, or we can retreat but then if we are followed I won't be able to overcharge a spell using a longer casting time.
-
I'm hesitant to waste resources when there are still Kier to hunt, but this path seemed to be the better of the two and the creature may follow us anyway. I'm content to go either way.
-
No decision on hunting or not?
-
We seem split, though most of the group seems on board with facing the beast, even if they haven’t said precisely that.
-
I can always have it charge... :lol
-
If anyone else wants to take an action that fits into two rounds or less, now's your chance.
-
You all have names and faces now on the side of the map. Drop yourself in when ready.
-
Init order so I can find it later:
Monster
Skyrock
Omck
Venn
SDK
Raineh
-
Omck apparently just quit MMX/Arhosa without warning, so it's Venn's turn, and his characters will be removed from both games, unfortunately.
-
Delaying initiative until after Raineh.
Monster
Skyrock
Omck
Venn
SDK
Raineh
SDK
-
Do I start making chicken noises here? :smirk
-
Feel free, we’re going to make the noises of smart, survivable characters: none. :P
-
Whatever happened to being Lawful Stupid and charging in where demons fear to tread?
-
I mean, I can move up behind a tree, or I can move up behind Raineh. One has a big weapon.
-
Is that the one on her back, or something else you've been practicing with? :rolleyes
-
As I am at 6/12 HD for active rituals and the Bloodstriker gives 9HD, I'm dropping the old Speed of the Fallen in favour of a new casting at 9HD (40', 20' borrowing).
-
Skyrock is up first, then Venn, then Sky, then the monsters
-
Skyrock is up first, then Venn, then Sky, then the monsters
We're back here again.
-
Skyrock's attack is a kill.
-
Another kill, SDK up
-
Skyrock is up first, then Venn, then Sky, then the monsters
Once more
-
4 Stranglers/Kier Elites, 2 Kier withdraw off the map.
-
So... should I just jump in with the next section of the campaign, wait, or just let this age ungracefully as per usual? :blush
-
I think you can jump ahead. After rounding up the loose weapons, there isn't much else to do for us.
-
I just tied up loose ends with Madoc getting up after the battle, just to establish what state he's in. Otherwise we can jump ahead.
For the record, he was a hair's breath from being dead, and is currently at 8 out of 39 hp.
-
If anyone didn't or it was passed over, you all gained a level at the end of the fun with the Kier.
-
Going to take sky up on his offer?
-
Yes.
I also see some character sheets are still level 4.
-
That definitely needs updating. You'd also need to find where the gates were.
-
Ball's in your court on this one
-
And we're off again.
-
Does anyone still want something from the group of looters?
From the sounds of it, the best approach is to send a single bait looking like having something to trade openly out at the treeline while the rest hides out of sight.
Madoc and Jarn are good at hiding, so they'd be best with the B-team as they can stay nearby unseen.
Red is very awful at hiding with the size and armor penalties, but most likely to scare the arcanists away through sheer size, so would probably need to hide further away.
That would leave either Gwaedwen or Ebony as viable open bait, with the other hiding out somewhere between the two sneaks and Red.
-
Ebony would work just fine.
-
You all got your plan sorted?
-
Latest agreed upon set-up was to send a party member looking like a looter willing to trade to the treeline, with the rest scattered around in hiding:
- Ebony as bait
- Madoc nearby hidden
- Red hidden in a covered pit
- Gwaedwen hidden 120' away
-
Alright, I'll have a map up
-
You all should hop onto the map with Skyrock, and make whatever preparations you have in mind
-
Everyone should roll hide checks
-
Cloth contains some arcane script and a crude drawing of a gateway. A decent spellcraft check would reveal the script has nothing to do with gateways.
-
Stealth checks are needed for everyone following.
-
We are keeping a reasonable distance because we have tracking and don't need a visual. But rolled the check
-
SDK identified the item that caused the Biyou to disappear - activated use of Distance Stride, CL 6th, 2nd effect.
It's an item that would be lootable if captured.
-
Spot check unfortunately was just too low.
-
Feel free to ask questions or try and keep poking around
-
did we have someone with Track still?
-
That person appears to have disappeared
-
So, given you no longer seem to have a tracker, what are your next steps?
-
Plan A: Find the arcanists.
Plan B: Kill their supply chain (everyone)
-
Note that tenement district would clearly qualify as a slum in most people's eyes. Buildings are built quickly and cheaply, already falling down and rotting, the lowest end of town.
-
So, based on the comments on Discord, this could potentially resume. If it did, it would be Raineh, Sky, and other Sky. Thoughts?
And does it need another player ?
-
Hm, do a quick summary of the current situation and see if we can pick up a fourth party from that?
-
Characters:
Raineh - Big Red Tank (big red tank)
Skyrock - Ritualist (Melee/caster hybrid)
SDK - Ecclesiast (divine caster)
Current story/Recap:
Drancedigaeth has begun actively cleaning the surface of Arhosa of life - at least discretely. Groups of his believers are fanning out from his most devout temples, reducing the surrounding countryside by clearing the pestilent and the strong, the weak thinking that this saves them. Having first eradicated a group of Kier who threatened the nearby locale (and thus left the villagers totally unprotected against the church of Drancedigaeth), the party has been sent for their success to hunt down a thorn in the side of the church - a group of arcanists resident in the town of Llosgi, a former expansive construction battered and broken by the arcanists' war that broke the Arhosan Empire. The arcanists were known to have hidden in the area, purloining the remnants of former glory from the ruins. The party had been able to arrange a meeting with a go-between for the arcanists, but an attempt to follow the go-between went wrong when the less stealthy members of the party tripped a magical sensor, and thus lost. Several days later, after some quiet poking about town, he was reported having visited one of the shanty tenements that had sprung up in the absence of proper housing.

Last call for anyone else to act before I advance matters. I think that's just Raineh
-
Let me know if you want a map for the building.
-
Any other surprise round actions?
-
I'm just waiting on a map. Though I'm not sure if this counts as a surprise round since we're technically still in combat, so I was planning on a full-round post once the map's up.

Genociders, group up!

I am here!
