Martial Discipline Compendium
« on: July 22, 2012, 09:59:17 AM »
This here is a compilation of links and descriptions of every homebrew martial discipline that's out there.  Phaedrusxy began such a list here, but I want links, dammit!  Also, it's buried in the Nord's Blade thread; I thought this might come in useful for other people who are homebrewing martial adepts.

If you find a homebrew discipline that I've missed, please leave a link!  If you find that one of the unmarked disciplines is incomplete, or that an incomplete discipline is finished, please let me know.

Many thanks to Garryl and especially Morph Bark for large amounts of links.

The version on gitp is here.

Additions to the published disciplines:
Extra maneuvers by Risada
Rushes (move-action maneuvers) by Garryl
Frozen Zephyr/Caustic Tempest/Shocking Sky (alternate energy types for Desert Wind) by Krimm Blackleaf (gitp)
Some collected maneuvers (mostly Universal and a Devoted Spirit) by Obsidianjaerc (gitp)
Martial Schools by DaTedinator (gitp)
Martial Domains by Sgt. Cookie (gitp)
Desert Warblade Maneuver Substitutions

Miscellaneous:
Arcane Sun and Blackened Moon, arcane disciplines for the Arcane Swordsage (not traditional disciplines).

I've got a pair I have to finish...

One of them is a Commoner discipline.

Yes, you read that right.

Zieg, this is GOLDEN! Too bad my DM has a moratorium on homebrew. :/

God damn there are a lot of homebrew disciplines out there... that list above (including the unsorted stuff) might be maybe 60% of everything I've got so far.  There are a ton and a half of disciplines on gitp.

Are you just going by complete ones, or are incomplete ones going to be added too?

Because I recently found an incomplete discipline based around gravity manipulation, so...

No worries, I got you covered ;)

I'm including incomplete ones too, with the expectation that they will eventually be finished... lol.

Hey Prime, I can't really sort out what's what with your BlazBlue contributions.  Can you help?

Eh, I don't know if that one will ever be finished; I'll see if I can locate it again, though.

No need to include those, they're just some scattered maneuvers/feats that might be fleshed out later.

I'd suggest that incompletes be clearly flagged. People looking for homebrew to use might not appreciate having the thing just break or mutate mid play.

So how complete do you want this to be? I got a Wordfile with a listing of homebrew disciplines numbering exactly 168, links and all.

I can flag them, that's not a problem.  Though, anyone who doesn't follow the link on anything they're going to use deserves the frustration.

I would love for it to be as complete as possible.  Can you send that to me?  I've got 72 in the table, more to go, and I haven't even gotten to the Age of Warriors yet.

Yes, but flagging them tells people which links are not worth following when they are looking for something to actually use in-play.

Agreed. If you're looking for the one in ten disciplines that fit your concept, having to look through twice as many because half the time what you clicked on isn't ready for play yet makes it all the more tedious.

I was collecting it for my Homebrew Tier Compendium and still need to do a little bit of formatting for it. Once I got it up (shouldn't take more than a day), I'll give you the link. All Age of Warriors stuff is in there, as well as anything I could find on GitP, this board, the old Brilliant Gameologist boards, the WotC forums, the ENWorld forums, the Competitor boards, Fax's wiki, DnD-wiki/Dungeon wikia, Dandwiki, the Gaming Den (nothing) and Dicefreaks. I didn't include about a dozen incomplete ones though, which are mainly found on GitP.

Actually, if you could bounce me the link as well, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been meaning to do a little more aggressive collecting of homebrew for my own compendium.
