Min/Max 3.x / Battle cleric of Gond?
« on: March 28, 2014, 07:09:22 PM »
We're currently playing a campaign that started at level 5. There's 4 more players: human druid, Dwarven fighter, human bard and a half-nymph Sorceress. My character is a Lesser Aasimar (Player's Guide to Fearun) cleric/divine oracle 5/1 with the following stats (including the attribute increase at level 4 and stat boosting items):
STR   15
DEX   8
CON  15
INT    14
WIS   22
CHA   18
I chose Gond as my deity (BTW: i is it allowed? Technically I'm not supposed to choose a god that has memebers of another race listed as it's usual worshippers but I figured he's more of a human god and also allows worshippers of all alignments.) as I like the concept of being truly neutral. I chose Knowledge and Planning as my domains at level 1 and switched Knowledge for the devotion feat. My 3rd level feat of choice was Skill focus (Knowledge (Religion)) so that I could get two level in Divine Oracle before switching to the Divine Disciple and, further down the road, Contemplative. At level six I took Divine Metamagic (Persitent Spell) and am planning on using it to get almost perma buff of some sort (probably Divine Power). When I hit level 8 and get another domain for free I'm probably going to choose Pride (I couldn't find any gods with Pride domain in any of the books I own but according to this: http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/35270/which-dd-3-5-deities-grant-the-pride-domain Gond is indeed one of them.) If I can't take Pride then I will settle for Metal and choose Pride as my level 11 Contemplative bonus domain. Otherwise I'll pick the War domain and take the Holy Warrior feat at level 12. At level 9 Power Attack seems pretty decent to me. With all these bonuses to melee damage I would still have plenty of spell to cast and would probably use them first before going  into melee combat alongside the fighter.

My question is: is this a viable build? I've heard battle clerics are usually frowned upon for being able to neither heal nor deal damage effectively. So should I rather go for Extra Turning at levels 9 and 12 (possibly also taking the Undeath domain for a total of 3+4+12 turning attempts to fuel my Metamagic) or maybe do something different altogether?

All core 3.X and Forgotten Realms specific content is ok. I will greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.

P.S .Sorry for any possible mistakes, English is my second language

Hello all,
I'm Desur. I don't have much experience in PnP RPGs but I took up D&D (3.5) about a year ago. I love theorycrafting (although I'm probably not the best at it) and am looking forward to contributing to this community.
