Sounds interesting, but plants are a type of creature.

PHB, p306
Quote
creature type: One of several broad categories of creatures. The
creature types are aberration, animal, construct, dragon, elemental,
fey, giant, humanoid, magical beast, monstrous humanoid, ooze,
outsider, plant, undead, and vermin. (See the Monster Manual for full
descriptions.)

Plant is a type of creature, but not all plants are creatures.

Plant Type

This type comprises vegetable creatures. Note that regular plants, such as one finds growing in gardens and fields, lack Wisdom and Charisma scores (see Nonabilities) and are not creatures, but objects, even though they are alive.

Emphasis mine

Min/Max 3.x / Spheres of Might Scholar Pet
« on: April 25, 2022, 06:34:50 PM »
For those unaware, Spheres of Power is a 3rd party system for Pathfinder published by Drop Dead Studios.

Their Scholar class has a pair of Knacks called "Animal Training, (Small/Large)", which give you a pet that scales on class level and counts as both a familiar and an animal companion, granting the abilities of both (a la Fochlucan Lyricist). It explicitly can take familiar and animal companion archetypes.

What's the craziest build you can think of to take advantage of this?

Having it as an SLA definitely has less potential for abuse, but remember that there are still meta-SLA feats that exist.

4
The spell level scaling for Signature Spell is a little awkward.

"3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th level, with a maximum spell level of 1/5 your Warmage level"

That means a 0th level spell at level 1, 1st at level 6, still 1st at 9, 2nd at 12, 3rd at 15, and 3rd again at 18.
Maybe have it be 1/4th level, scaling at 4/8/12/16/18?  At 4th level you have a second level spell and probably a bonus from Cha.  So you'd do 2 rounds of your highest level spell, then refresh on the 3rd with a 1st level spell.  At 8th level you have 4th level spells, but probably only 1 unless you have a super high Cha (and you probably don't with this ACF - better to pump Int for more Warmage Edge), so 1 round at your highest spell slot, one at your second highest, then refresh on the 3rd round with a 2nd level spell.

I'd also specify that Signature Spell counts as an SLA, and you're not casting it out of a spell slot.

Could probably eek a little bit more damage out of the build by using the Variant Monk Weapons rule from one of the recent Unearthed Arcana.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: Psychokinetic Weapon: 1 Attack or More?
« on: August 20, 2019, 10:56:00 PM »
It explicitly uses your base attack bonus.

Quote from: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatStatistics.htm
Base Attack Bonus

A base attack bonus is an attack roll bonus derived from character class and level or creature type and Hit Dice (or combinations thereof). Base attack bonuses increase at different rates for different character classes and creature types. A second attack is gained when a base attack bonus reaches +6, a third with a base attack bonus of +11 or higher, and a fourth with a base attack bonus of +16 or higher. Base attack bonuses gained from different sources, such as when a character is a multiclass character, stack.

Seems pretty inarguable.

Got new tires a week ago.  Today coming home from the girlfriend's house I hit a nail or something and got a flat.  In the rain.  On the highway.
But I set a new record for fuel economy coming home, so that was neat.

A fun find for answering an annoying question RAW more than any mechanical value, but Sharn: City of Towers actually has a section on page 192 about how PCs pay their taxes. It says caster PCs can pay their taxes by casting spells for the government, with the given example being Wall of Stone for construction.

You don't need to worry about nuking the holder's saving throws, because the ability specifically targets the item

Quote from: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicItemBasics.htm
Damaging Magic Items

A magic item doesn’t need to make a saving throw unless it is unattended, it is specifically targeted by the effect, or its wielder rolls a natural 1 on his save. Magic items should always get a saving throw against spells that might deal damage to them— even against attacks from which a nonmagical item would normally get no chance to save. Magic items use the same saving throw bonus for all saves, no matter what the type (Fortitude, Reflex, or Will). A magic item’s saving throw bonus equals 2 + one-half its caster level (round down). The only exceptions to this are intelligent magic items, which make Will saves based on their own Wisdom scores.

The Caster Level for items is notoriously low.

Could you advance it with other Prestige Classes as normal?

Or would you rather we become the forum where one guy stands above every rule and drives away anybody wanting to join the community?

I'd rather be the forum that takes in people even if they got banned elsewhere.  That's how BrilliantGameologists started in the first place.
There's plenty of places where any given newbie would be welcome, but not very many where people like SorO would be.

Can we like, take a vote on this?   :blush
SorO may be a dick, but he's our dick.  And you shouldn't cut your dick off.
And that's kind of one of those lines you never expect to read.

Though in a way, I suppose I can back this up. I mean, I used to be a huge dick in these forums myself. SorO is pretty tactless, but I don't think he's actively malicious.

Thing is, you greatly improved. Soro didn't. He actually kept getting worst. And consider yourself lucky you didn't end in his direct line of fire, because he did actively start to get extremely malicious.

As the mods pointed out, it wasn't a sudden thing, it was the piling up of years of ignoring multiple warning from the people he directly attacked.

And if his ban is revoked, he'll only become worst. He'll consider that there was absolutely nothing with his behavior after all and only keep escalating it even faster.

Fair.  Still, it feels somehow wrong. Like we're betraying our principles.

Wait so according to the FAQ, if you get level drained and then kill monsters to gain XP, you could level up in any class, but if you use Restoration you must make the same choices you did before?  That doesn't make a lot of sense.
What's supposed to happen if you get level drained, gain a level by XP, and then get a Restoration?

8 feet and 400 pounds?  Is Powerful Build in 5e at all?

Yes, and they have it.  It lets you count as one size category larger when determining carrying capacity.  :banghead

Oh, and there's a limited number of uses per day.  Not that you'd survive the first use anyway  :lmao
