So apparently I had cancer
« on: March 09, 2017, 03:04:46 PM »
As some of you may know I recently went in for surgery.  I had a small precancerous mass and needed a resection done.  It was expected to be fairly routine, and take maybe 2 hours.

I was on the table for 6 and required a blood transfusion.  My colon had adhered to my spleen and needed to be separated...and there was a second mass that had gone unnoticed next to the first.  It was a carcinoma.  I then caught pneumonia.  And a violent lunatic went off on a rampage in the ICU and had to be arrested.

Glad to be back :D

Yeouch. Welcome back, Bhu.

My dad had skin cancer once. Just a small bit of surgery to remove the tiny patch that was a problem. It all went well, no issues since, but it was still spooky times. I can only imagine how much worse it must have been for you with something internal, and then for complications on top of that.

Damn! I'm glad it was caught sooner rather than later. I hope your recovery goes well.

Thanks guys, it's good to see you all again.

The high point was the crazy guy visiting.  Looking back I should have been terrified because he could have killed us all, but maybe it was the painkillers.

They admitted an old man from ER
who went belligerent when they tried to give meds to him. It started off with insults, misogyny and screaming, and quickly segued into him throwing stuff at nurses, destruction of property and barricading himself in a room. My favorite moment was him telling a cop "If you knew how to stand tall and wrap a shovel around your ass, you'd know what it means to be a real man." what the hell does that even mean?

Just got news pathology report is only partly done.  When they remove colon cancer they remove all nearby lymph nodes as well in case the cancer has progressed to them, and they haven't biopsied them yet, so I may still need chemo.

Fuck.

Ouch.

I went to the local Pink Zone game for breast cancer awareness.
The woman next to me was ultra Type-A personality.
Go go go, this is so annoying, I have cancer, but I have a life, I've got things to do, I had to go to Radiation for like 15 minutes everyday for a whole 2 weeks, it was so annoying, do you feel how annoyed I am, I still had to do everything else ... etc
This continued throughout the game.
Radiation might do it, and is cake-ish quality of life, compared to Chemo ... IFF you have the option.

... but maybe it was the painkillers.

They admitted an old man from ER ...

Are you sure  it wasn't the other way around ?
 ;)
I just watched Legion last night, so I don't know what's real and what's "real" quite yet ; fun dreams tho'.

Tests say lymph nodes should be clear, cancer was stage 1, genetic tests for predisposition also negative.  Will prolly not need chemo, but will be seeing Oncologsist as a precaution (cause apparently they're still doing tests of some kind).

It sort of is.  But I'm still having issues with bone-crushing fatigue.  It's like I have really horrid flu without the phlegm and coughing.
