I blink.  "Ask for Io...with the letter?  What?  It's a letter, not a phone."

I look at him suspiciously.  "Were you out drinking last night, too?"

Nanashi misinterprets Spider's comment as forgetfullness.

"Not a phone, a letter.  I do hope you remembered to bring the letter from Kuro, since you had it when we left her.  It had our instructions in it, the first of which was to meet an entity named Io here and present her with the letter."

I snort.  "Of course I brought the letter.  That doesn't explain how you expected to call her with it."

"I... don't?..  I mean, Sensei probably could with some jutsu or another, or maybe Kuro could with magic?  But that seems like pretty powerful magic.  Maybe I'm mistaken."

I refuse to drop the point.

"Yes, you did.  You just said that we could ask for her directly with the letter.  How is that supposed to work?"

I hold the letter up to the side of my face.  "Hello, this is Spider.  May I speak with Io?  Yes, of course I'll hold."

"Hello?  Can I help you with anything?"

A woman dressed in a plain uniform walks up to you, sensing your confusion and general ineptitude.  She looks more or less like the other flight attendant types walking around.

"Ah, yes,"  Nanashi puts his confused look on hold as Spider begins to worry him...

How much had he drank?

I glare at her.

"And you better not be Io, otherwise I'm going to..."

I consider my threat.

"...be very hungover at you."

The attendant doesn't appear particularly perturbed.  She's probably used to this sort of thing, living in the Old Capital and all.

"I believe there will be a gate for Wonderland in tower C, floor 2 2 hours from now.  Do you have a ticket?  It should have that information on it."

Nanashi looks over at Spider, as if to convey to him to show her the letter.

I look at the letter, then at the attendant.

This is not a goddamn ticket.

"No," I sigh, "we don't have tickets.  We were far too interested in bears to ask about tickets."

"I see.  Well, the ticket booths in the central tower are currently open.  They may still be tickets available.  Would you like me to take you there?"

"..."

I consider this option.

"No, actually.  We should probably just speak to Io.  If that's possible without a ticket, that is."

Nanashi was about to acquiesce, but Spider cuts him off.

Nanashi hangs for a moment to let the woman respond, but draws his phone to call Kuro and figure out what is going on with this ticket situation.

Spider's Story
'Very well, please follow me."

She leads you over to the central tower and sits you two down in a bench.

"May I have your names?"

Nanashi's Story
Your phone rings, and rings, and then someone picks up.

"Hello?  Kuro speaking.  Who is this?"

"Yes.  I'm Spider, and this is Nanashi."

Nanashi nods in affirmation that Nanashi is, in fact, his name.

For the briefest of moments he is shocked that Kuro doesn't know who is calling.  He kinda assumed that these phones were tethered to them, but that would be silly anyways, they are just normal phones for this area...

probably...

"It's Nanashi.  We're here at the gate towers and we seem to be lacking tickets.  We are currently looking for the Io woman that you mentioned, but are we going to need to procure these tickets?  Is there anything we should know about them?"

Spider's Story
"Thank you.  Please wait."

The attendant walks off.

Nanashi's Story
"Oh, hey Nanashi.  Have you found Io yet?  If you don't see her around, just ask one of the attendants.  Tell 'em Kuro sent you."

I wait.  As I do so, I eye my surroundings in what is probably a vain hope of spotting a drinking fountain.
