Zero flys down the nearest hall, going deeper into the Library. The light from the tiny crackers in his hands quickly disappears from his friends view.

Kwah Yah follows Zero
((Still tracking))

EDIT: I'm trailing Zer0, trying to maintain about 30ft of distance at most. Doesn't really matter if anyone notices i'm following him... It's moot to even try :S

Being a strong believer in the old axiom of "Keep your friends close... and your enemies closer.", and still not fully trusting this palefaced guy, Mercutio begins the process of trying to win the guy's trust. And nothing is better than alcohol for that. ((Assuming there is some kind of common area, with booze? If not, I guess they could always head out into the city itself and hit a pub.))

"So which realm are you from then? And what did you do back there?" Mercutio says as he leads the group towards their favorite watering hole.

Deftly swoops down low over the table that the black blob is under and drops one light cracker directly on the critter, then chirps as loudly as possible before he carefully circles toward the voice.

Riek is visibly unconfortable with Mott's presence, but he doesn't say a work about it. "Yes, that's the reason I joined. I'm from the Lhazar's Principalities. I doubt you've ever heard of that. As much as I've never heard of this Waterdeep city" says Riek trying to sound friendly.

Umm... guys? Valrin said as his companions started to head off down the tunnel. *sigh* Well... I guess it's just us as usual eh Punka? Valrin ushered Punka closer to the box. Hmmmm well.. I don't think we should be the ones to actually open it. Just in case its trapped. But since no one else is around we will have to make due. Stand back a bit... in case of explosions hahahaa.
Punka did not appreciate that joke like Valrin did. But he did as his master commanded and moved back about 15 feet. Valrin started chanting and weaving a symmetric pattern with his hands.
He then concentrated, and the box opened!.

((actions, casting greater mage hand. The way you described it, the lid sounded heavier than 5 pounds due to the stones and gold.. Anyways I open the box via mage hand.))

Riek responds, "You can ask your master what our mission is, since we're not in the position to discuss it. I'm sure he'll tell you if you need to know." There's a heavy sarcasm in the last phrase.

Mercutio tries to cover for his... less eloquent friend. "Ahem. It sounds like your basic scavenger hunt. Go grab the magical whoosit, and while you're at it also pick up that whatchamacallit. Since it sounds like no one has ever gotten out of this godforsaken hellhole, I'm sure it will end in miserable failure, probably with all of our heads on pikes."

((Heading to the Hall to have a drink to see how much info I can get out of Mr. Mott, without giving out too much myself. I still don't trust him, as he showed up mysteriously and has too many questions. Hopefully a few bottles of wine/whiskey/beer and Mercutio's silver tongue can loosen him up a bit, though.))

Alphonse never really made friends easily, especially after being stabbed.  He lags a few steps behind his companions, listening to their conversation but not directly participating in it.  He eyes Mott's dagger resentfully as they all make their way to the dining hall.

Pffft.... the decayed one of Darkon. Sending you on a scavenger hunt? He goes quiet for a few seconds before bursting into a fit of laughter. No wonder the king sent him here... Better to let him wander about a forgotten library, than to be ranting in the high court again. I remember there was a time when I actually liked Snorri. A long time ago... its funny. He hasn't changed much on the outside. But he's not the same man he was when he first appeared in this realm. He coughs and spits a bloody clump onto the floor. Though.. I suppose if anyone of us ever did escape, no one would recognize what we have become. Mott says the last part of that rather quietly. Almost as if he was telling it to him self.

((speeding things along. your group finally makes it into the main hall))

As you enter into the Main Hall you notice that Murgstin is gone. His usual pile of belongings is in the corner where he typically sits on watch. But the large man himself, is nowhere to be seen.

Mercutio says "Hmm... now where has Murgstin ran off to?" ((He casts Detect Thoughts, using two 1st level slots via Versatile Spellcaster, and just "happens" to catch Mott in the cone. He's going to try and read Mott's surface thoughts, while making it look like he's looking for Murgstin and/or intruders. If you want a bluff check, here, but he's not really lying or anything.
