Okay for the Exponential Bear I'd like to do some form of Multiplier it can use on it's stats a certain number of times per day.  Thing is how high can I put the multiplier without it being unreasonable (which won't be very high at all), and how do I figure CR ?  For example let's say the multiplier is x3, and can be used 3 times per day.  Lets say I can apply it to attributes turning a 10 str into a 30 temporarily, or 6 hd to 18.  Any thoughts on this?

So do the Absolute and Fractional bears seem ok?

I'll be trying imaginary and exponential next.

for the exponential bears: what about a multiplier?  For example if the multiplier is x3, once per round the bear rolls three times and takes the best of the 3 on any roll.

Maybe size increase rather than dice games? It's mass growing exponentially is much easier to model in the game rules, since each size category is an exponential increase in mass anyway.

yeah but dice re-rolls are easier to cr, unless said mass expansion doesnt increase hp, BAB, etc.

It should be a fairly straightforward size increase. Exponential increases in mass results in linear increases in size.

I'm thinking some kind of intangibility, plus fear effects and invisibility except for their chosen prey. Maybe incorporeal, but solid only where the victim is concerned?

Thats much easier than the exponential bear.  Now I just have to figure out the derivative bear...

Maybe an ability to imitate traits from it's victim, but that gets messy fast. Hmm...perhaps if you restricted what could be imitated to a short list of attributes it can get when facing enemies with something similar.
