Hey, Boz, sorry to do this to you again, but I need you to change my forwarding address (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=241.0). Turns out the new place had an infestation of spammites, and by the time the fumigators could get rid of them, they'd eaten away enough to make the whole building structurally unsound. Anyways, I got this new condo on the cheap and it's got most of the good things I liked about the old place, so I'll probably be taking out a long lease when it comes time to renew.

You should probably similarly update the link to the spellshaping material, since that's a subforum now.  The analogous thread is here, (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=845.0) but I don't know if you'd rather just link to the subforum--since there's going to be another Codex in there soon, it will save a wee bit of time.

Sorry to make so much trouble for you!

I have a new magic system, along with a base class, three prestige classes, feats, and (soon to be) items.

Ritualist (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1334.0) (base class)
Ritual Warrior (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1268.0) (prestige class)
Ritual Expert (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1315.0) (prestige class)
Ritual Mage (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1371.0) (prestige class)
General rituals, feats, items (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1327.0)

I don't have anything planned at the moment, but you never know.  Someone might suggest something, or I might have another idea (I always have lots of ideas).  It's possible... actually I'd say it's probable (knowing me), but it's likely to be dribs and drabs instead of massive additions, unless as I said someone suggests something.

Why? Did you have suggestions, or was it an organizational thing for the compendium?
Title: Re: [D&D 3.5] Homebrew Compendium
Post by: Amechra on November 26, 2011, 11:23:28 AM
Pretty much organizational.

I have a couple of things I haven't posted here yet; I'll edit them into this post in a little (I need to just get my own compendium.)
Title: Re: [D&D 3.5] Homebrew Compendium
Post by: Bozwevial on November 27, 2011, 12:57:32 AM
Basically organization.

Since you have the links to the classes in the main Rituals thread, I'll just save some space and link to that, sound good?

Its significantly harder and more time consuming for anyone but the original poster to transfer their materials, since the old boards are locked down, you can still use Modify to see the code for your own posts, but anyone else would have to manually reconstruct tables and formatting.

For formatting specifically (though not for spoilers, tables, and the like), you can paste the post into the WYSIWYG editor (toggled by clicking the rightmost button above the smileys). That should transfer most formatting.

The enormous amount of material that is Magipunk. (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?board=80.0)

And, some love for Factota (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=3214.0), with some contributions from others.

On a semi-related note, might it be possible for us to construct a homebrew compendium sorted/indexed by type of homebrew?  I understand that that's a huge undertaking, but I often find myself looking for, for example, all the homebrewed martial disciplines that exist.
Title: Re: [D&D 3.5] Homebrew Compendium
Post by: Bozwevial on February 25, 2012, 12:26:02 AM
Added both of them, and learned a little bit about the English language in the process.

To answer your question, yes, I've had that on the back burner for some time now. It's not really that big of an undertaking; assuming my tagging system is correct, I'd just have to group everything, mark it with its author, etcetera. The biggest obstacle is time. That's not true. The biggest obstacle is laziness.

It can (and will) be done, possibly in the second set of empty posts if that has enough space. I'll be pulling everything out of the individual compendiums for convenience, and certain categories like feats will have their own subcategories. Everything will be polished neatly and I will be there to buttle as needed.

3.5 Deepwood SniperPrC: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=484.0) The popular 3.0 prestige class revamped for 3.5.
Elemental MagesBase: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=476.0) Now all you need is the power of Heart.
OracleBase: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=481.0) Abjuration/Divination specialist, similar to the beguiler.
PurifierBase: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=479.0) A class full of sunshine and kittens. And by kittens, I mean positive-energy-powered laser beams.
Shadow BladeBase: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=4031.0) A martial character that uses darkness and teleportation.
Whip FighterFeat: (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=4101) Approved by Indiana Jones himself.

I think for the next MinMax awards, I'll have to include a Joke Homebrew category.  Icon vs Feater, which wins???

Oh yeah, how about a name change suggestion? I'd call it "Dream Lover" (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/bobby_darin/dream_lover.html).  :p And I have to ask... was that class inspired by that song? Because if not... it's uncanny how well they match.

Nope!

It's actually based off an older PrC that I never wrote up that was a Warlock/Hexblade hybrid that involved tearing out your own heart, and sticking it into people to mind-control them.

If you died, you merely transformed their body into your own; it's OK though, they adore you...

Really? Nothing for a new skill?

There's a few kicking around. I've done at least 4, although 2 are Knowledge variants. Spellbond  (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=13607.0)is probably the most generally applicable of them.

I'm sure there are other people who have created them (SirP comes to mind), I just don't know their work well enough to point you to a skill.

What about coinage more valuable Platinum? Palladium and Rhodium came up as a commodity in the ranks of value of silver, gold, and paltinum

My group generally just starts using gems.  Trade gems, where each is cut for a specific value, so you can have trade gems that function like coins, worth 100gp, 500gp, 1000gp, etc.

That is quite true.

So the Elemental Savant Prestige Class in Complete Arcane mensions focus in elemental damage types that go beyond the norm; quote "...bone, metal, nether, plasma, and wood.... Determining the sort of damage each of these elements does, and how that type of damage interacts with the four recognized types of energy damage  is the crux of this design process."

Bone, metal, and wood are rather self-explanatory in that they'd be more physical damage types; but has anyone ever looked into nether, plasma, or other exotic energy forms as magical energy?

Anyone make an 18-20/x2 crit polearm?

Such a thing is simplistic enough that it wouldn't really require its own thread, but might fit in the 1001 ideas as a single post.  All it would require is looking at a x4 polearm such as the lurcerne hammer in Dragon 331, then rename it and give it 18-20/x2 crit instead of x4 and it's done.  Reach, 2d4 damage, slashing (because that damage type is more common for larger crit ranges overall) and 18-20/x2.  Cost will be about 10g and weight will be about 10 to 12 lb on average.  One of the names that isn't used yet for D&D polearms is the bill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%28weapon%29).  Call it a billhook and it'd work.

Just post it! There is no toe-stepping in homebrew.

If it's bad, then consider it practice.
If it's good, then be proud of it.
