Alth thought for a moment then shook his head.  "Gindar, let your chief know that some 'adventurers' stopped by and are taking care of business.  I imagine your wounds will be enough to back up your claim.  Nami, I'm going to scout ahead a bit and make sure the area is clear before we settle in.  Hopefully they didn't hear our ruckus."

Gindar nodded and took his leave, heading back to the shaft. Nami got to her feet and stood beside Alth.

"Should I go too?" Nami asked. "Scouting, I mean "

An extra 50 exp to everyone for keeping your end of the deal and allowing Gindar to leave alive ... Unless someone says otherwise.

"If you really want to you may, but you'd need a torch whereas I don't.  You may not be as good at hiding or spotting as I am, especially since we gnomes have a few tricks up our sleeves.  Besides, you've taken a hit while I haven't."

As soon as Gindar was out of sight, Dolard was returned to his sheath. Moving to sit upon a near by rock as he began inspecting his rather severe wounds, grumbling a bit.

Turning his attention to Alth and Nami's conversation. "Aye it probably be best if he scouts. We need ta find some way ta keep tha' door shut until we be ready ta proceed" Thumb pointing over his shoulder to the door Gindar was guarding.
I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri rock! I need scissors! 61!

Looking around, "Can we prop it up with a stick or something?"?

{if so, I do so}

Nami looked as if she was about to protest, but instead sat back down with a sigh.

"You're right," she admitted. "I am good at hiding, but it does me no good if they see the light from my torch."

While there were no large sticks to brace the door with, there were several large rocks that could be rolled in front of it.
With a DC 15 strength check, that is.

"I'll do a specific knock like this," Alth knocked on the door to the time of the first five notes a of well known tune, "to let you know it's me, and I expect to hear the next two notes in response.  I shouldn't be gone long.  Set a few things up if you want, but be warned we might need to move."

With those parting words he sneaked down the tunnel and made sure to go slow to lessen the chance he'd be noticed.

"Two bits," Nami sang quietly.

The tunnel was dark and silent for roughly 80 feet. About 90 feet down was a crude stone door to the left, and 10 feet beyond the door the tunnel curved sharply to the left.

Alth listened at the doorway for a full minute, doing what he could to ascertain whether something was in there.

Uube stands around, apparently not needed to do some heavy lifting.

The hall ahead is silent as the grave, but through the door a dripping sound could be heard.

Alth paused to think about what the dripping sound might be and concluded it was some sort of water source, probably a well.  He did a half-assed search of the door just in case it had anything of note.  He didn't really think anything would be on the door to worry about, so he nudged it open enough to verify his thoughts.

The door proved safe and swung quietly open. Inside the small natural chamber, water dripped down from a stalagmite and collected in a pool in the center of the room.

Alth made note of the room's features and shook his head when he realized another gnome he knew would have gladly relieved himself in the pool.  After getting that thought out he did what he could to figure out the dimensions of the pool without actually entering the room.

The room is about 30' in diameter, and the pool is about 10' diameter.

Having scouted the room, Alth started down the hall still making sure to not draw attention to himself.

Just around the corner of the hall stood what may have once been a man. The man's skin was deathly pale, his long hair was tangled and matted, and his sunken eyes glowed with putrid blue light. He let out a baleful howl as he reached out to attack.

Please roll initiative, and everyone make a listen check.

Alth was as quick as always.  Taking advantage of his opponent's slowness he stepped back, pulled out his bow, knocked an arrow, and shot it hoping that it wasn't immune to his sudden strike.
