I think we're more or less waiting on the police to arrive. And/or the gentlemen to agree to buy the lady lunch.

Not sure if I've got this right, but here we go:
Lore: 4d3-8+5=6

Assuming the +4 at the end of your guys' rolls was your skill aptitude (both are +4 (Great) right?)
Yeah, that's correct. Kitty also passed the tag on the aspect she discovered to whoever would take it, so since you're the one who's rolled highest so far, feel free to take the tag and bump that roll to an 8.

Also, looks like our cultists here are Exalted fans.

Guys. I got it.

The Air guy was obviously in the subway. Presumably, he farted so hard he died.

You are half correct. He just sucked in a really big breath, then held it long enough for everyone else to choke and die.

Come to think of it, this seems like a good point to brew up some potions or potion-equivalents for those of us who have potion slots. After all, we've got a Wizard, presumably with lab, right on hand and are about to go off and participate in the Plot.

Which brings up the question of how far Boz is willing to let us game Navel-Gazing Maneuvers for purposes such as these. It's fairly easy to jack potion power up - off the top of my head, Ziggy being on hand sounds like good justification for spending a fate point and a Lore maneuver on top of that is quick and easy. Past that, there's not much of a theoretical limit on what kinds of maneuvers you can roll to keep buffing your potion other than the DM's patience. Personally, fate point plus maneuver sounds reasonable to me and results in a fairly strong potion, anything beyond that quickly starts getting silly. Your thoughts, Boz?

I think that should be fine. That said, there is this:

Quote
Regardless, an item’s casting strength after
all bonuses are totaled should never exceed
two times the crafter’s Lore rating—at least
not without a very good rationale and a ton of
baggage.

That reminds me, that I never came up with items... or rote spells... or any spells for that matter. :shrug
My character is fairly well-versed in thaumaturgy, though, including specialization in crafting and divination. :D

Fair enough. It's been a while since I browsed the books, totally didn't remember that bit.

So what I'm thinking for a "potion" (Actually, a card with mystic writing or designs that fade or burn after use) for Kitty to prepare is a big, flashy illusion for use as a distraction. Put it somewhere, set it off, and run like hell. Or set up an ambush. My best guess for modeling that would be aspects to be tagged for whatever devious purpose we come up with. Which would raise the question of complexity - if considered a maneuver against anyone who's looking at it (e.g. Discipline vs. being Distracted or something), then it'd just be me tossing in as much oomph as possible and hope it sticks (it probably would). If considered a maneuver to set a scene aspect (e.g. suddenly Huge Flashy Lightshow), it'd be whatever arbitrary complexity you set on that (Evocation gives default base shifts on a maneuver as 3, Thaumaturgy notes that you can get multiple aspects or multiple tags on the same aspect by just stringing the spell together multiple times). The former approach is possibly more versatile and less complex to adjudicate.

Yeah, I think we'll go with the former approach on that one.

So are the rest of you making any preparations?

I can definitely recommend that Leo prepare some stuff, though; his items pack a fair bit more oomph than Kitty's. We aren't exactly hurting for versatility or firepower given that the group is composed of primary magic-users, but it couldn't hurt to have some panic buttons or prepared rituals. We have plenty of concealment, movement, and combat applications in our on-the-spot magic, so some more niche or obscure effects are most interesting.
Some kind of counterspell potion could help, given that we're likely to face down fellow magic-users here - just dump in a load of shifts, lob it and hope it works. Saves an assessment action and doesn't require a roll to control while bringing enough power to dispel most evocations and some thaumaturgies.
Potions that give bonuses to specific rolls are precedented in Red Court Antivenom and the True Seeing Ointment - just a bonus equal to the potion's strength (i.e. a huge one) to a single specific kind of roll. I'm sure there's some area we could find a use for this in.
Painkiller or even healing potions might be useful as well (see the Stimulant potion and Elaine's Reiki Healing thaumaturgic spell - the latter is expensive when applied to higher-valued consequences), though the latter is less necessary when two thirds of the party have Inhuman Recovery.
Finally, consider effects that our elements don't cover - Kitty's element is conceptually Fire, but the mechanics of it are closer to Spirit in the Western system, Leo's is Earth, and Phil's is Air, so we're basically missing Water and about 0.5 parts fire. That's not a whole lot we're missing out on, though.

Phil can provide some water, as long as theres enough sky to draw rain from.

Countermagic is a great idea though.

Alright, everyone done with crafting? If there are no objections, we can fast-forward to downtown.

I'm good and ready. We were discussing some possibilities for Leo, but in the interest of moving along, we don't absolutely have to do all our crafting now, presumably we'll have other opportunities.

Bumping for rolliness, and also to notify that veekie had a HDD failure and will have tenuous presence in the foreseeable future..

It probably goes without saying at this point, but that subway was not under construction recently.

Maybe a distraction is in order? With "construction" guys all over, sneaking in may be impossible otherwise.
