It was all a joke - he seemed a little surprised at how carried away everyone got.

Glad my initial assessment was right.  But, I try to keep in mind that exams are a very high stress time for students.

And, that you are generally a dour lot to begin with ...

So now that he's folded ( a little )
it's time for the class to have a faux debate
about how reasonable his joke was.
And somehow agree ahead of time,
to come to the conclusion that it is Not a joke
and instead is actually true, regardless of what the teacher says now.
You could all be confederates against his joke, and a taste of his own medicine.
 :flutter

Or even more deviously, negotiate ...  :smirk ... like
how does MATH 404 here suddenly just for the final, equal PHIL 181 there ??
In all fairness, game theory, which the Prisoner's Dilemma and the Tragedy of the Commons (more generally collective action problems) are part of, is also a branch of mathematics, viz. Nash Equilibrium, and also just the level of math required to solve more complicated games.

No no don't spoil the fun ...  :D

My nephew is biracial (which in Ohio means he's black by default).  His girlfriend is black.  Columbus police don't have the greatest record in dealing with minorities.

Oh, yeah my bad.
That's kinda seriously dangerous.

I wonder if nationwide, the cops think there's a replay
of the 60s riots ready to happen everywhere.

Here's to hoping your nephew comes out unscathed, bhu.

In other news, I'm turning 30. I feel old, and in addition, I can never put together a celebration of my birthday where more than a couple of people show at a time.

Then I hope the people that do show up are the best damn people.

Happy Birthday, Kuroimaken.

That's... not good. I hope it all turns out much better than you're expecting.

GOOD FUCKING GOD taxes annoy me.

As if it weren't enough that Brazil is like, the only country EVER where shipping costs are included in your taxes, now they've come up with a way to calculate taxes that ends up with you paying 120% of its value in taxes alone.

For. Fucking. Serious.

Well I found my 'stolen' watch.  Apparently it was in my shoe the whole time and I didn't realize it.  The shoe I've been wearing for over a week now.  Looks like the neuropathy is getting worse.

In lighter news I need a biopsy, but I may have apparently inherited 15000 dollars.  Which means just in time for the biopsy and other stuff, i may lose medical care.  Hopefully it's reinstated before the money runs out.

A lawyer should be able to keep you from losing whatever program.
I've heard a # of times, that a pile of cash counts as income for 1 month.
So of course you get nothing that month, but if it's all gone, then you're back to normal.
(don't quote me on all this !!)

$15,000 ... I'd go get a 3 to 5 year old small Honda or Toyota.
That'd get you car ownership expenses below $1000 a year,
and at the point where it would turn into a clunker,
it's already paid off, which is $0 in ownership costs.
Opens that money up to repairs.
You come out ahead for another 5 years, barring a major repair.

(look I know some of it's going to hookers and d&d books, still ... )

I just noticed something from Antilife Shell...

"The effect hedges out animals, aberrations, dragons, fey, giants, humanoids, magical beasts, monstrous humanoids, oozes, plants, and vermin, but not constructs, elementals, outsiders, or undead. "

What?  Why are elementals and outsiders on that list?  They have a Con score, they're alive.  The only reasoning I can think of is that those two have the "body and soul are one" thing, but that doesn't make sense.  Why would that exclude them from Antilife Shell?   :shakefist  Wizaaaaards!
Mudada.

The file with my big final programming assignment in it is corrupted, and won't open.  :banghead

I sent it to my professor anyway, and I'm working on a functional version now.

EDIT: I just finished up the project without using subroutines. I am the boss now.

So now that I completed my Path of Shadows review, it took longer than I expected what with the two week gap between the posts on Chapters 4 and 5.

I realize that the next best thing would be to go back to work on my unfinished reviews before starting a new one.  Path of War is my next bit, but was wondering if Ptolus is a good idea.  There was a new book I wanted to tackle, the Primeval Thule Campaign Setting, but it's 250+ pages and while light on rules I don't want to end up with another dead project.

My last Ptolus post was over a year ago, and it was quite popular on a lot of boards.  Still, it's one hell of a huge book to cover, and Path of Shadows is 80 pages.  If I do go back, Ptolus might be my big one-and-off project I do in bursts.

Granted, Path of Shadows was crunch-heavy so summarizing things you'd ordinarily do for settings is not as suitable to the format.

Any advice?

I suffer from chronic depression.  Don't worry I am on meds and haven't cut for almost 9 years.  I like to keep my mind busy (aka RUN LIKE A COWARD FROM DEPRESSION)(It's only recently that I consciously realized and acknowledged it).  I am always trying to do something to keep my mind occupied.  Sometimes I will role play online just to keep me busy.  Lately, EVERYONE has been busy.  Yes I know, whine whine.  When there's nothing to do, I get bored (and that's a bad thing)(I come up with CRAZY/stupid ideas when I am bored).  Sometimes I get bored and try as hard as I might, my depression catches up to me.  This is one of those times.  :sobbing

Sorry, I'll stop whining.  I just needed to vent.
