Saul:

The water is hot enough to be uncomfortable on unprotected skin, but merely reddens it, rather than causing a more serious burn, when you're careful not to keep the skin submerged more than a few seconds.

The woods are remarkably still, though whether as a matter of course or due to your fight with the Displacer Beast is hard to say.  No fish or other life of any sort are readily apparent in the water. The worked staircase is visible to all of you as Milo carefully gathers the water into Makala's waterskin.  It includes a stone and wood cover against the weather, which someone takes the time to tend to and keep in good repair.  There appears to be an iron helmet or cap of some sort on the ground in front of the stairs.

Saul says "As far as I can tell, this area has been relatively stable for a while. Should we go ahead and call in our people to start setting up a camp here?"

"Sounds reasonable. Hopefully we can make peaceful contact with anyone who lives down there. Ready when you are, but I'll need a light source." He says, pulling out a sunrod.

"Might as well get this over with... glad this river isn't too wide... I'm not too good at this athletic stuff..." Saul says, as he steps back a few feet and then runs and leaps over the narrow river.

Dakekk pokes his head down from the canopy, hanging upside-down, when he notices the group crossing over. Dangling upside-down, he watches to make sure everyone crosses the water safely.

As the last of the small scouting party makes it across safely, a small air pocket comes up from the creek's bed.  The air creates an odd whistle effect as it escapes the surface of the creek, which is answered by an unseen bird.  The stairway looms ahead.

End Chapter 1.

200 XP for defeating Displacer Beast
100 XP for concluding Chapter 1 (minor bonus because PbP is S-L-O-W to advance)
100 XP for completed character sheet
50 XP for including a backstory
-----------
450 XP
