This is correct,but depending on which occupation you chose, you may get the personal fire arms as a free bonus feat, along with your starting feats which would allow you to get archaic weapons which would allow the use of swords if you really wanted to.

I'm interested in this.  Never played D20 modern, but I do have the rulebook and tend to pick up things quite well.

My first thought was Dedicated going into Investigator.  I'll look more into core and get Weapons Locker to see if there's something else that piques my interest.

Edit: If you're doing 5d6 drop lowest 2 then 25 PB isn't really comparable.  5d6 drop 2 averages to about 13.5 (look at http://anydice.com/program/da6 for more details), so 13.5 each stat is effectively 33 PB.  Drop down to 28ish to make sure there's a penalty for choosing specific stats?


Fleshing out my character more: Rufus Dempsey, Dedicated hero who used to live and work on a farm until some funky stuff happened and his knack for tracking things got him to a point where he'd either have to work for The Campus or be hushed.

It's gonna be Cryptids,mythological stuff, stuff like Jason,Jumping jack and other urban legends (including Slender man) and from time to time you will also face humans but no sci-fi.
