One of my coworkers is resigning so he can go back to school. Good for him!

...except that I get all his shifts...

...which make my existing shifts doubles (8 on, 8 off, 8 on) and 16s.

...woo overtime?  :banghead

Social Security is going to have my head after this pandemic is over with the money I've been making. Weird thing to be upset about, but here we are.

You're welcome, it was probably good for me to review something that I hated just to prove that I don't love everything.  :lol

I also appreciate that you are basically channeling a less-vulgar Yahtzee for the entire review.  :lmao

....huh?

I really appreciate you taking the time for such a big book. The Cosmere books are some of my favorite modern fiction, and I cherry-picked some of the more engaging mechanics of this game for my own (which you reviewed before iirc) like the "gear replaces itself offscreen" wealth system. I hate storyteller systems BECAUSE they tend to be really rules-light and not robust enough, but this book felt like an attempt at a storyteller system that could actually back it up, even if it missed the mark.

I also appreciate that you are basically channeling a less-vulgar Yahtzee for the entire review.  :lmao

They did the same for me, but the overpayment at this point would be spread out over 2 years at this point I think.

I'm at the mechanic's shop getting work done before the maintenance becomes emergency repairs, and I'm rather upset with the cost. A little over $2,000 for a bunch of suspension work, and they STILL didn't have time to replace the bushings. They said those are good for another year, but I would have much preferred they got it done in the same job. I brought it to them as soon as they opened, and it'll be here till they close.

If Social Security comes after me for overpay after the pandemic is over I'm likely screwed. For now though I can absorb this with the relief check and my overtime pay.

With the majority of you expressing a desire to relocate (or at least ambivalence towards the matter), you continue on.

(click to show/hide)

After about a 2 miles, the bumps in the ground thin out and finally stop showing up. You've left the Bulette's territory, which means you are either safe or that he's very sneaky when hunting outside his turf. Referencing your previous routing, you expect to reach the area surrounding the main road by sunrise. The extra effort avoiding the bulette tonight will mean a nicer place to rest later, but the night isn't safe either.

Looking back, it appears the majority want to relocate, so I'll go with that.

It has been 2 weeks since the last post, so tomorrow the fight comes to you.

Still rolling hills and open brushlands. You saw these mounds randomly spaced all over on the way in, which implies you've either passed the bulette already or it was driven towards this area from the direction you came.

In agreement with each other, you set off again. The trip is uneventful save for the sight of some slightly overturned earth at random points. As night falls you come upon signs of a previous camp, likely belonging to Stine and Seera. Stine's warning returns to mind as your eyes pass over the campsite, noting another one of the dirt mounds.

My grandma has had 3 strokes and I'm planning on visiting her in a couple of weeks because this is probably the last chance I'll have.

Oof. Thanks for putting mine in perspective. Be safe, value your time <3

I have been sorting cards on Tabletop Simulator for the last week. Tonight while tired and on autopilot I hit overwrite instead of load, saving a blank table over all my hard work. Steam cloud naturally saved this change immediately, and this laptop has no rollback function for user files.

Stine looks at you gravely and replies:

"Don't sleep on bare ground."

Today someone dropped this little nugget of wisdom on me:

"Your tongue knows exactly what anything you might want to lick would feel like. Table leg? It knows. Football? Yup. It doesn't matter if you've licked it before or not. Your tongue already knows."

"Seera", she says, volunteering her name offhandedly, seemingly distracted.

As your report reaches the description of the wreckage, Seera's eyes briefly widen in shock before quickly becoming a mask of professionalism. In contrast, Stine's narrow and he becomes pensive as he realizes his charge's "waste of time" has suddenly become a serious complication.

It seems we have much work to do after all.

Indeed. I wish we could have spent more time with such a unique individual, but we should make haste. If Hal-El's feeling is accurate, the situation could be even more dire than we dared imagine.

She nods amicably, letting you cast your divination without complaint. He hesitates for a moment, but with an almost imperceptible nod from her follows suit.

She reads as Good, he reads Neutral.

"To answer your queries, we are traveling towards a research facility located somewhere out in these wilds. One of our magical tools reported a massive explosion. It's almost certainly an error, but the church is nothing if not thorough when it comes to fact-checking."

Stine joins the conversation with a tone of annoyance:

"An eldritch event the size your device picked up would have leveled a quarter mile radius around the facility and disrupted the ecosystem for miles. The device is obviously faulty, and you are wasting our time dragging us out here."

"Peace, Stine. We have a duty to find the truth, even if the truth is less than glamorous."

She turns her attention back to you and continues:

"If you have any information from there I would like to hear it. Having an independent party around to corroborate my findings makes the paperwork go much smoother when I make the report."
