In a stunning display of self-spite. I appear to have a new type of anxiety attack manifestation:
- Purely physiological, totally aware and not panicking.
&
- All the symptoms of a fucking heart attack. Arrhythmia, numbness in left arm and tingly left leg, sudden excessive yawning, headache, chest pain, not getting enough oxygen even when getting full breaths.
Worst part is...I still have to go to the ER if it happens, because theres no way to tell. Thanks body, I really appreciated the 4am trip.

Pretty much, yeah. The idea is that without investment you have to cast it surreptitiously, and then have a few minutes in which you can grab something, which will remain perfectly hidden for the remaining duration. Even if it pops out of hiding, it can be released inside your cloak or something. You can still use the normal hidden casting methods to make this easier, but at least this works by default in an otherwise nonmagical subterfuge scenario.

Hmmm... making it longer multi-use would make for better magic shows. Not sure how often one would want to use it more than once on its more "adventuring applications". The longer duration would certainly, as you said, help with searches.

Minor clarification, The intention isn't for the spell to become multi-use. The duration is the amount of time the space exists, and you can grab a single object with it (hence "next" item).

You know those thought exercises where people are put into comically specific situations to test their morality? I just lived one of those, and I'm going to have nightmares about it for the rest of my life.

My grandmother came to me with a mysterious briefcase she couldn't get open, asked me to pick it, then walked off.

I got it open about 10 minutes later, opened it to find...A bunch of art my cousin's mother did in college, and a bunch of unsealed envelopes full of money with her name on them. At a glance at the labels, around $50,000. I zeroed out the locks because they were already close to being permanently damaged from whoever tried to get into it last time, and went to talk to grandma in private.

Me: "Are you aware of what's in this briefcase?"
GMA: "No, is it guns or something?"
Me: "Or something. It has around $50,000 in cash."
GMA: "5000?"
Me: "50,000."
GMA: "Oh..."
Me: "You know how I'm the only one other person who's seen the inside of this case? If it turns out something is missing from the case and the fact that I opened it becomes known to the family, my uncle might ACTUALLY kill me."

So yeah, I had a chance to take a life-changing amount of money that wasn't on any books and skip town, and I didn't take it. I've been sitting here ever since, trying to figure out what motivated me in that moment. It wasn't because it was tied to my family, I hate my family. It wasn't because I don't need it, I am completely destitute and likely to be homeless soon. The only thing I come back to is that I've tied my sense of self worth so strongly to abstract ideals that I was completely unwilling to entertain the alternative because it would mean giving up the only thing about myself that doesn't make me want to die.

I need a hug.

RAW: Yes.

Quote
A character who no longer meets the requirements of his prestige class not only can’t advance any further in that class, but he also “loses the benefit of any class features or other special abilities granted by the class.” (CW 16) You retain Hit Dice (and the hit points derived from), base attack bonus, and base save bonuses granted by the prestige class.

RAI: Unknown

The DMG only requires you to meet the prerequisites to take the first level, and one could argue that the CW updated text is "specific to that book's prcs", but the FAQ (for all its flaws) supports the raw, which is the closest we ever got to a RAI statement.

I am more angry with Kaiser right now than I've been with any form of medical care in decades.

My last two therapists have moved on, one quitting to open a private practice, and another moving to group therapy. Both cited Kaiser not allowing them enough time to give appropriate levels of individual care.

My care is now being outsourced. Last time they tried this they LOST so many patients they had to cancel the contract with the outsourcing agency. They already lost me once this time around, and I am not expected to have any kind of functional care for months.

My psychiatrist removed me from her ongoing care list, and when I was re-added, I'm apparently being put through some sort of intake process again because I got a recommendation for Lithium and some labs prescribed that showed the same shit they have for years (slightly low "good" cholesterol, slightly unbalanced thyroid function, and a vitamin D deficiency due to only really functioning at night). I've got no problem taking a vitamin D supplement. I have a problem with decades of records and data being ignored in favor of a suggestion to adopt a Mediterranean diet.

No, Strat has control of everything and I think currently he is the only one with access.

WE MUST PROTECT STRAT

Its pretty active in Discord form, though.
Yup. I'm on there far more than I post here at this point, but that's mostly because discord is relatively temporary realtime socializing, whereas the forum is a place to discuss stuff that will be referenced longterm by old and new members alike.

The forum has been pretty quiet these days, and I had a weird spike of anxiety about the future of MinMax. Is there some sort of system in place to hand the site off to someone if the admin(s) go missing?

Sadly we are only Allowed to select from the PHB. Not even the DMG is allowed.

Level progression is likely to be very slow.

 :)

With that in mind, I'll second Skyrock's suggestion to stay in Cleric. The cleric spell list gives more flexibility at any given level than anything the barbarian would give you, and once you reach 4th level spells, Divine Power will take care of your Base Attack Bonus. You can even fluff it as divine rage  :p

The problem has been resolved. He asked for only a single file that he paid for outright, instead of the entire project. With this, I'm letting go.  :rolleyes

So they are making money off the project? And you have logs proving that you put dozens of hours into the project?
As I said, save-save-save everything.

$4k is way too much good money to surrender to thieves and looters without some fight.

The project was kickstarter funded and has been released both online and in brick and mortar stores. My agreement with them isn't to the rights of the finished project, just the ability to keep the effort I spent on their project for personal use in lieu of payment. They are trying to get my project files as well as the product.

I was told that I'm charging too much, and wouldn't be paid. I charge federal minimum wage. Even if I charged him JUST for the time spent in biweekly meetings, it'd be hundreds of dollars.
IANAL, but Cali has a simplified Small Claims procedure for civil claims up to $10k: https://www.courts.ca.gov/1062.htm

You don't need an attorney for small claims, so if the agreement and work is well-documented in writing, you are good to go. Save every bit of evidence you can, especially if you are likely to lose access to them such as any messages on private social media groups.

VERY poorly documented, since I originally joined the project as a favor and wasn't expecting it to be a 40hr/week ordeal.
Short version is that discord chat logs ~88 hours of meetings, and my most direct coworker was present for ~440 hours of work. I'm willing to consider the other 1320 hours unbillable due to neither party keeping mutually recognized timekeeping records, but the meetings and billable hours still come out to almost $4,000

The thing is, my service agreement is that I keep the rights to my work, the client keeps the rights to the finished product regardless of pay. If the project succeeds they have the money to buy the project files and continue it with or without me. If the project flops I keep the files and use them for my own personal projects. This means a contract has pretty much no bearing on the transaction. They want to have their cake and eat it too, refusing to pay but demanding the project files and a transition period to replace me.

I am absolutely SEETHING right now.

My policy for creative works is that I retain the rights to the work until the client accepts them and wishes to use them for a commercial purpose. Normally this is easy to enforce since I have complete control over the files and hand them over as part of the billing process.

I was hired to work on a game. The project was vastly outside of the stated scope, so it ended up eating almost a YEAR.

Due to mismanagement, there was a severe crunch period in the last few days where procedure was basically suspended and files were flying everywhere so the correct people could get stuff done. The game was submitted before the bill was paid.

I was told that I'm charging too much, and wouldn't be paid. I charge federal minimum wage. Even if I charged him JUST for the time spent in biweekly meetings, it'd be hundreds of dollars.

Hitting PC HD doesn't really hurt a fullcaster unless it also prevents them from gaining spell levels. Full casters can already pretty much ignore HP, AC, Saves, etc just by setting aside a few of their spell slots. If anything this kind of thing does far more to hurt martial characters since they actually care about the "compare numbers and see which is higher" part of combat.

Just use the Phrenoligy psychic skill unlock.

Shitty pseudoscience being treated like fact just to create yet another shitty skill is SO annoying to me, ESPECIALLY when it's shitty pseudoscience that is regularly used as part of the overall justifications for eugenics.
