So if I use 3.5 based class can I still use PF feats?
As long as you aren't using them to abuse a mismatch between rulesets (like trying to use 3.5 cantrips with pathfinder unlimited cantrip casting)

Also can I use Starkin?

Without spending an inordinate amount of time trying to find the boundaries of it and all the associated initiator content, I don't feel comfortable with that one. At a glance I see uninterruptible 1.5x speed teleportation at-will, perfect saves, open ended selection of at-wills, and no real tradeoffs beyond a relatively fragile HD.

If you are only using the base class itself and not any of the supplementary content (SRWd20 arsenal stuff, feats, the empress class, and the initiator disciplines), then I'm willing to take another look once it is further developed. There's no deadline to join this game, so if you are dead set on playing your own homebrew then you have time to polish it further.

I think we had something going on that would let us take the next class feature as a capstone feat? Or something.

Reminder to people still figuring out a build, characters that single-class the full 6 levels get access to a capstone feat. If your class does not have a capstone feat in the E6 rules, you get to request one. They are usually whatever your class would give at 7 or 8. Factotum for example would usually request Cunning Surge.

Pathfinder content for E6, run it by me first because I generally ignore the contents of this in my normal E6 group.
Original E6 pdf, this one is 100% fair game.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Tanya the Guard:
During the birth of the Croc-ling, Tanya busies herself with reading over her previous contract. Upon reaching a particular part of it, she frowns and looks up at the rest of the party. When the ruckus subsides, she's nowhere to be found, save for a short note left on a rock nearby:

Quote from: Tanya's Note
"Little one, you have been fed and are nearing the road. Our contract ends here. According to my old contract, I must meet Seera as the representative of my previous employer, There is work to do and pay to collect."

Will have to pass.
Understandable. I'll write you out and leave the door open for your return if you so desire.

Hey I was told there opening in this game?

Yup! Here's the original recruitment page so you can reference the character building rules.

Update time!

Heatwave this year should be manageable, I have AC and working Solar now, and have a DECENT phone tether to work on this from my laptop.

Vehicle is registered and insured.

Got my own power tools, built some furniture.

I'll see about kicking this off again if there's still interest.

what kind of security guard fails to report a crime they've witnessed/experienced?

One that has been recently traumatized or is under pressure from their employer not to do so, and therefore has to weigh justice & personal closure vs maintaining their ability to provide for themselves or their family.

lvl 4 character or lvl 4 Hexblade
It replaces the "Summon Familiar" ability gained on your 4th level of Hexblade.

That said, arcane resistance is an untyped bonus of 8-9 vs all Spells and SLAs, and Mettle lets you completely negate effects with a save, so those first few levels are definitely not wasted.

If you do take Hexblade, You may need to do some early entry shenanigans to get the 2nd level arcane casting needed for Anima Mage.

Also, if you want Ur-Priest level abuse but arcane, you can use Darklight Wizard.

Hexblade has an unofficial errata by the original writer that makes it significantly easier to use:
Quote
Good Fortitude save
Curse ability usable 1 + the hexblade's Cha modifier per day
Curse ability usable as a swift action
Curse ability does not count as used if the target makes his saving throw
Ability to cast in light or medium armor and while carrying a light shield or buckler
At 6th level, the hexblade can cast one hexblade spell per day as a swift action, as long as its original casting time is a standard action or faster. He gains an additional use of this power at levels 8, 11, 14, and 18.

In addition, Dark Companion from PHB II replaces a familiar and gives you a saveless, invulnerable mobile version of your hex.

Dreadful Wrath and Imperious Command combine with those for pretty much free panicked state, which is its own pseudo-SoD.

I agree though that you would be pressed for caster levels with this setup unless you have some sort of progression shenanigans available.

I haven't checked the type of penalties, but if they are untyped you can stack them, and free-action/constant effects are relatively rare so stacking them to ensure a SoD always lands is good.

I'm not sure what SoD stands for but yeah the idea is for it to be themed as a grim reaper. I did however just realize the build is MAD I just assumed Ur-Priest was Cha based but I looked and was proven wrong. You're right the binder uses Cha for the binding check as such if you have a different build I'd be glad to hear it.

SoD = Save-or-Die. You could probably nail the Reaper theme if you do an area debuff aura followed by SoD effects. Hexblade is a terrible caster, but its curse is CHA based and is a free action to activate. Enter combat with an AoE intimidate effect, lock eyes with your target, walk over casually and boop them on the nose with a death effect.

What updates do you have on this system for us at present?

There doesn't seem to be too much interest in the system as a whole, probably too little too late, poor timing, or something.

Also I haven't yet brainstormed a method to address satisfactorily the drastic disparity of values in feats, though it has occurred to me to break complex feats down into simper feats... but even then, a +1 in a skill is not the same thing as a +1 to a stat, nor to a combat metric.

furthermore, even if I do manage to find true equivalencies across the board within game context, the way people play is so varied that the value of the system may be diluted to different degrees based on play styles.

So other than the base concepts above, I don't have much more that I'm ready to share at this point.

do you have any suggestions or insights, by chance?

You seem to have touched on what's likely to be an ongoing struggle with this system. Feats aren't equal, so saying something is "worth a feat" could be a huge range of power. Weapon Focus says +1 to attack with one weapon is worth a feat, but Divine Metamagic (Persist) says that fundamentally altering how spell durations work is worth...a feat. Any atomic building block you use to quantify power within the game is bound to boil down to some sort of arbitrary assignment, since fundamentally the game is split between "things that make numbers go up" and "things that let you use your best numbers for more things"

Even splitting it like that, a single spell level of a cleric gets ACCESS to a stupid amount of spells, many if not most of which are more versatile than a fighter feat that gives you access to a new way to use your grapple check.

I feel like living in a pandemic is mostly a risk-management scenario. There's obvious shit like "wear a mask" and "wash your hands", as well as "avoid densely populated spaces", but then there's shit like "my family is doing christmas things and not wearing masks indoors, so I have to make myself scarce."

I ended up making the decision to leave the bay area before christmas travelers show up, and come back after they've all done their gross traveling. Turns out Amtrak is strictly enforcing social distancing by only selling 1/4 as many tickets (so each person gets their two seats and the seats behind them), they have none of the fancy dining service, all payments are cashless, and if you are seen without a mask at any point during the trip they remove you from the train.

I feel like it was irresponsible to travel because it entails casual exposure to a bunch of people, but I'll take very short term masked exposure over a bunch of travelling family members who OBVIOUSLY don't know how to distance themselves congregating in a house for a week. Yeah, I have my truck to hide out in, but it's fuckin COLD out there right now, since my battery backup can't run a space heater, and I got sick last time from breathing cold damp air for hours on end.

The good news: When I return, I have a 0-contact graveyard security position lined up. Interview passed, paperwork done, I just need to show up once to grab the uniform from an office running a skeleton crew, so no contact there either. There's nobody to interact with at the site either, just a desk position watching an outdoor plaza. Doesn't even have required patrols if the weather sucks.

Labor law says they can define a workday in a way that technically allows this, individual court cases consistently rule that they can't, but they don't compel anyone outside that case to change.

Quit the security job tonight. HR finally got in touch, just to emphatically repeat that company policy is to not pay me for the overtime hours. Note that part of the job description is mandatory overtime, so I can't just turn it down either. Fuck em, security is always hiring, even during a pandemic.

Had laser surgery for my glaucoma.  First they put a"numbing drop" that burns like fire for several seconds till it takes effect.  This is so you can put your head in some contraption before they lube a lens device which they press and hold firmly directly against the eyeball.  Then they zap you repeatedly with the laser while adjusting said lens for each angle.  You know when the laser hits cause there's a bright green flash before an electric shock travels through your eye.  Takes 5 minutes.  Feels like a lot longer.

It's like getting a vasectomy. Thoroughly unpleasant in a very alien way, but not the kind of torture you'd expect.

I dont know everything but the dread necromance manceris dread necromancer//marshall, horned harbinger, palladin fo tyrnanny, dread master

The Shifter is a were bear monk/warblade/warshaper natures warrior master of nine

And i was wrong hes not a truenamer, hes wizard 5/malconvoker 9/ paragonstic apostle1/ thaumaturgist 5/master specialsit 5// binder 25

Not sure how much that helps.

Alright, so an army buffer/charisma caster, a natural attack specialist, and a summoner (who is probably your wildcard since summons come with big spell lists).

I'd suggest something that combines all 10 levels of swiftblade and psionics, so you can break action economy over your knee and push those 2 full attacks up to 3 or 4, or at least do multiple moves a the same time. If you can get Daze immunity, Celerity->Haste->Subsume haste for a time stop is a great way to interrupt ANYTHING.

Schism lets you take purely mental actions, and spells cast through it (with silent+still to make them purely mental) don't suffer CL penalties like powers would. You can also use Synchronicity to ready actions to happen as the time stop ends, including things like casting another time stop.

3. yes the goal is a gish, not opposed to psionics, never played one thoug.  But Im likign hte rough build i have, the ability to make 2 full attacks at full BAB with lvl 9 ray/touch spells attached to each attack seems super fun
4.  I have seen the swiftblade, is it worth the loss of caster levels?  with my current build, i could take 6 levels of it, which would only make me a lvl 15 caster.

I know the other toons int he party dont seem that broken, but i Know the players well, they will have them min maxed to the extreme. SO i want somethign that can compete, but not get overshadowed, or overshadow itself.

Where do you get the second full attack action from?

You are gestalt, you can just put normal class levels at 1/4/7/10 on the other side of your gestalt to ensure your spell levels don't tank. Also, you are level 25, you have some wiggle room while still getting level 9 spells.

I'm struggling to figure out what the other characters are doing here, since truenamer is (and I say this as a huge fan of truenamers) a terrible class with almost no potential for significant abuse beyond the skull talisman exploit, and unless the dread necromancer is going HARD into level draining or minionmancy, he's going to fall behind most other casters.

Can we get some sort of benchmarks for what you want to be able to to? It's hard to tell what "compete but not overshadow" means when we don't know if they are throwing around 15d8 or 150d8 for example. At level 25, a well-built martial character can be one-shotting GODS with minimal resource expenditure.

Sounds like you are going to be missing a lot of versatility since Dread Necro and Truenamer are both small-list casters, and unless the Truenamer is abusing the hell out of consumable recovery utterances and skull talismans, he's going to be pretty much useless at epic levels.

The go-to answer IMO is shadowcraft mage stapled to a cleric. You get full divine casting (which means full BAB due to Divine Power), Heavy armor proficiency if you want it (or you can just trade it out to be a cloistered cleric, AC is a trap by that point anyway unless you can jack your touch AC into the stratosphere), and still get spontaneous access to most of the Arcane Evocation/Conjuration list. Also, divine metamagic for all-day buffs from the arcane list. It's a character that can do almost anything, but usually not all at once, so you can just fill in the party gaps and keep the game going when it stalls out.

Quote from: Shadowcraft Mage explanation:
- Shadowcraft Mages get the ability to emulate conjuration (summoning or creation) and evocation spells by using [figment]-descriptor illusions (which become [shadow]), similar to the shadow conjuration and shadow evocation spells.
- The maximum level of the spell to be emulated is one lower than the level of the illusion used.
- Heighten Spell allows you to increase the effective level of a spell. Silent Image is allowed as one of the base spells for shadowcraft, so you can just heighten it to the correct level for the spell you actually want.
- Earth Spell allows you to Heighten a spell by one more than you normally could, which overcomes the -1 spell level penalty of shadow evocation/conjuration effects.

Used together, a SCM can effectively spontaneously cast anything shadow evocation/conjuration can create, using any spell slot, while also ignoring material and XP components, AND casting long-duration spells in a standard action.

Early entry into SCM using heighten and divine metamagic to get a 4th level shadow spell early from your shadow domain means you have a LOT of wiggle room, with even casual entry being something like Cleric5/SCM10/Another Prc10

If you use Domain Spontaneity you can spontaneously cast your illusions using any of your spell slots, or you can take a single level of Dweomerkeeper and choose Silent Image as your Mantle spell.  DK is MUCH better at it, since DS costs either a turn attempt or a higher spell slot.

Side note: if Dragon Magazine is included in "all 3.5 books", then the War Spells section in #309 has some hilarious options for shadowcraft mages. Stuff like a 25-target/level version of magic missile as a level 2 spell. Normally it costs 600gp in material components, requires a special feat, and takes a full minute to cast, but as a SCM you get to ignore all of that. 1 missile per target is absolute trash in epic, but the SPECTACLE is worth it.
