Agon
« on: November 07, 2011, 11:35:27 AM »
I got my hands on Agon a few days ago and from what I've read, I love this system. The opposed dice mechanic is pretty sweet and the Strife mechanic is a nice limiter as well (not to mention something to gloat when you take down a hero).

BUT. As we all know, things that look fantastic on paper are sometimes...not. Has anyone had any experience with Agon? If so, what were your thoughts?

It really depends on your group; I've run through two sessions of it before we stopped.  For us, the thing we really enjoy about RPGs is the cooperative nature of them, and once you introduce an overtly competitive element into that, it can get pretty ugly if you have several "must win at all cost" personalities at the table.  (which we do)

That may not be you experience with it though.  The rules did seem fairly clean, and if you're into some friendly competition I would say to give it a try.
