Oleg looks at Jack and nods enthusiastic."Sure, sure take them with you if it helps your task!"After your question regarding the bandits he is responding a little downed again."They should come around today or tomorrow.Thats why I thought you were those ruffians."

Well it does substitute the dmg but still why do you think the new dmg is to your target and not to yourself? With the given wording you may as well dmg yourself with the attack.
Both interpretations are possible imo.One reading the word"substitute" in a way that it implies that the dmg is upon your target and one that reads "substitute " in a way that doe not imply the same target.A little bit confusing but still.
I don`t think just because you replace x with y it in no way means all things that are true for x(you deal dmg to the target of your attack) also apply to y.If you get what I am trying to say.

Well, their one most notable class ability (since everyone can get TWF in 3E) is "I hate X group."  So, some broodingness can be forgiven.  And, they are stealthy melee fighters, which leads to a bit of Wolverine and Batman syndrome.  And, please don't go on to tell me how you would build Wolverine and Batman.  I'm just saying that one could be forgiven for reading that into the Ranger's DNA, especially if you wanted to play against Aragorn a bit, who is in the films depicted as totally brooding (at least in Fellowship).

Isnt it more like "I am specialized in fighting group x"?At least that was the way we always interpreted. To be fair I can see why someone would play a ranger like this.

I suggest a 2 sentence approach.
"I like reading and long walks at the beach.Furthermore I am a deep talker"?

Never witnessed anything like this.lol
I always hated the kind of paladin that was not only stiff but killed half the party without a "reason" other than I sneezed and they didn`t say bless you...

Another one

X Class has to be Dark and Brooding
Also Rangers tend to be a bit guilty of this.

Whaaaaaaaat?

If you want to go into grappling go for full wizard  :tongue

Jokes aside.

For "mundane" grappling I always liked the Totemist from MoI but since thats kinda not standard it seems like it is not allowed.

Other than that there is a nifty feat for Monk+Psywar but I am afb.It allows you to stack levels for psywar and monk for the purpose of unarmed dmg and something else.
It was name tashaderpherp or something.Sorry  :p

Normally grappling is a pretty big trap. The monsters will have better grapple checks than you have.

By the title I assume only srd is allowed?

Oleg is looking bitterly in his stew as he begins.

"Those bandits started coming around 2 month ago.And then weekly to take our belongings. It is strange, normally bandits were always a part of this area but they were not organized like this. They began to act organized and united under the so called "stag lord".He seems to be some kind of leader for those of this area.I don`t know though were he is stationed. They told us we weren`t allowed to ask for help our they would kill Sevtlana and me.I just couldn`t take the risk
."
He sighs and is looking again in the round of strange fellows.
"You said you were send by the swordlords, right?Than this may be of interest to you."
He stands up and walks to the wall were those pictures were.As he returns he sits down and continues:
"Those are official wanted posters by the swordlords of restov. When you got a head of those beasts bring it to me and I will send a pigeon to get Restov to send your reward. Can I help you any further?"

As Jack and Zsass talk to the person and convince him that you in fact are explorers sent to make this area safe the person loosens up visually.A sigh of relief leaves his mouth:

"Thank Pelor!I really thought you were those bandits again.
My name is Oleg and this place, or more what is left, belongs to me and my wife Svetlana. But come in first there we can discuss everything you need to know.Svetlana will warm up some stew. You must be hungry.
"

Oleg closes the gate and leads you to the "living room" of this trading post (the area around T7) .Svetlana hands everyone interested some warm stew.Inside there are many notes on the walls which seem to picture many different creatures. The chairs are pretty comfy and as you sit down Oleg still pretty nervously looks into the round and continues:

"So?What do you want to know?"

:( I am not a native speaker so there is obviously the language barrier but I will try to make it clearer in the future.

Normally I am double checking to make sure I am clear :/ Sorry.

btw.: How should we handle this when I should update?Should I wait till everybody wrote something to the situation or just update daily regardless?
I am pretty new to this pbp thing so I feel better asking how this is done.

As you are entering the trading post a scarred middle aged man with a shotsword in his hand awaits you.He seems to have noticed you as you were talking in front of the gate.He is shivering with his whole body, with fear carved into his eyes but even though he has a tough statue he seems not to be trained to actually fight.

"Wwww....We don`t have anything left. You can`t take any more from us than you did already.Go away!Let us alone you petty thieves!"

The Trading post looks like this from inside.

Min/Max 3.x / Re: Building a Monk (battlefield control)
« on: August 25, 2012, 09:20:44 AM »
First, make the DM agree that the monk gets proficiency with his unarmed attack (they don't by RAW, which is stupid as hell).

Second:
3.Improved natural attack does not work since with improved unarmed strike the body of the monk does not count as a natural attack but as a weapon.
Pencil is wrong here because:
Quote from: The SRD
Unarmed Strike
A monk’s unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.

I am deeply ashamed.Sorry.  :blush

1. Don`t play a monk.

2.Refer to 1.

3.Improved natural attack does not work since with improved unarmed strike the body of the monk does not count as a natural attack but as a weapon.

Jokes aside. If you want to play martial bfc just go fighter with a spiked chain or something which does that better than the monk in almost every regard imo.

no candle?
He said:
3) Gate
Which is all the candle does, it just does so cheaply and for anyone.

which is why candle is broken. It is not broken because of the gate spell but because of an early gate spell for everyone.

I'll go ahead and take ten of survival too. Gives me a 16, so technically between Zsass and I, we can feed everyone.
I'll take a 10 on a Survival check to forage for food.  Total is 13, so I can feed one other person too.  That is, if anyone is interested in the bugs and small rodents that Zsass would eat ;-)
Okey.Should work out fine.
