I could roll grapple checks, but if the 12 year old kid can beat me at it, then I say we put him in the frontline next time.

Oh, your attack hit just fine. He's just immune to drain. 

To clarify: as a homunculus he's ALMOST unkillable. But he has no combat proficiencies of any sort, can't hit worth shit, nor does he really have any attack methods (unless you count complete and utter apathy at being attacked as a way to beat your opponents). Class-wise, he's basically a commoner. He can't use any social skills, though he could probably be taught a few practical but ultimately worthless professions.
