Did someone feed the cloud after midnight?
Call an elder Romani woman an "old gypsy"?
Hung the horseshoe ends down?
Crossed the street without looking both ways?
Called new Gypsy better than old Gypsy?

503.

This thread is now the most 503'd portion of the forums for me.  Who cast Bestow Curse on it?  Fess up.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: Shortening Casting Time

A 14th level caster could use extended Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability to punk off the day casting time onto the little bugger.

Dominate Construct is a thing.  Plenty of ways to make constructs do what you want in the Eberron books.

Sadly, that 2d6 base makes the feat better than so many of the fool 'sacrifice a spell to do 1d6 damage per spell level' abilities that have circulated since 3.0.    And its still hot trash.

Zombie Pyrohydra is a classic.
Any valid Animate Dead target with the [Fire] subtype would work.  All ordinary Special Qualities are lost, zombifying a troglodyte makes it smell better.  Somehow.  :psyduck

Animated Object gets Hardness against everything.
A skeleton Mule with a ring of fire resistance.  Spellstich it if it must be part of the critter.  Bonus: cold immunity.

You can build a computer with MTG
That reminds me of one particularly dickish deck featuring a Chronotog.  Turn after turn of no choice of anything for anyone to do while the game "played" itself.  Weee.
The only fair thing to do is make them play every un-turn of the Stasis Deck so they burn the damn thing in frustration and blight the world no more.  Its what Kirk would do.

In Pathfinder, Sapphire Ooze rides you!
A Russian reversal into a Yo Dawg.  Amulet of Ooze Riding to ride a Sapphire Ooze worn by the BSF.

Who is riding a Gelatinous Cube.

I like the idea of using  the Human Paragon class from UA for another bonus feat that can be spent on Dragonmark stuff.  But that makes taking a level in a caster class tempting which dilutes your BAB more or winds up Duskblade or Hexblade.  That fully customizable skill list would be handy too.

Riffing on skydragonknight's Crusader pitch, Knight 4 gives you some control options while not being a class anyone will miss taking more levels in.

In the text you posted, the stones aren't stacking to a max of three, they're stacking to a max of +6.  A bigly difference for determining if you can go past +6 Enhancement by any means.

General D&D Discussion / Re: AD&D 1E Tomb of Horrors (PC Ideas)
« on: September 24, 2019, 01:15:14 PM »
I largely skipped 1E, but I do know that in Tomb of Horrors, everything is a trap.  Everything.  And Find Traps won't save you from many of them so beware shmuck-bait.  And roll a second character.

I do know that your 8 and your 15 are almost identical in value in 1E and 2E, ability scores meant jack-all in that range.  And that 16 isn't much either.  Your Constitution should get the 15 or 16, that's 10 or 20 hit points in a system that caps out 10 HD.  Though if you go Elf, use the 13 or 14 in Con instead.

Don't forget level caps for Demihumans, Thief is about the only one I think that has a high level cap.   So the F/M/T is probably the better long term option.  Actually, if Fighter is capped at a low enough level (6?), Mage/Thief may have a better THAC0 than a Fighter/Mage just because the thief xp chart is so favorable.
With your stat swapping you could make a dual classed Human if you wanted.  (Those 14s aren't doing anything useful.)  There are some interesting things you can do with that when starting at high xp.

If the DM isn't giving you equipment for your level, grab the Armor spell and have the best AC in the party.

I remember grognards talking about shenanigans with Cavalier and its stat growth, but I don't have the book to recall the specifics.  If you have it, take a look.

Let us know how long it takes for first deaths.

Min/Max 3.x / Re: Need Help Refining a Healing Stronghold
« on: September 15, 2019, 12:53:23 AM »
Check out Citadel of the Planes on page 120 for a single keep spread over multiple locations.  Put all your healing items in one spot and simple portals in the other locations.

Get a Lyre of Building, at 13k gp it provides a -30% cost reduction to your stronghold, one of the 10 ways the Stronghold Construction rules interact with the rest of the game  (The other 9 are the spells at the front.  High level Wall of Stone being the second best cost reduction.)  It pays for itself on even a cheap keep.

There's only one 3.5 book that I remember seeing Wondrous Architecture in, and I'm brain farting on which one it was.  One of the last books I think.  I'll reply again if I find it.  Generally speaking though, the items in Stronghold Builder's Guidebook are about the best you'll find for mass recuperation outside of buying some magic bedrolls.

You should get Craft Wondrous Item and the modifier feats for it to build all that wondrous architecture, perhaps via an Artificer Cohort specializing in Medical Technomagic?

As for deterrence, Wondrous Architecture is all but impossible to move, even harder if you install them before finishing the walls and only put in man sized doors.  Give the local guards free service and they'll keep the few vandals away.  Setting up a 24 hour rotation from your leadership feat should fill in the rest.  Build golems if you really are worried about murderhobos (other than your party) and place glyph of warding and other spell as traps in wall safes for the staff to open for troublemakers to "loot."

Don't forget to add a schoolroom for your outreach programs, have to teach life skills and the next generation of hospitaleers.
