Melchio Merthas, The Blade That Purges the Darkness:

Kinryujin, his mech:

Melchio is a headstrong character who will jump into the fray at a moment's notice, ready to dispense judgement against those who seek to darken the light of the world. He fights in his trusty mech Kinryujin, which was given to him by his father. It is activated by inserting the sword Melchio carries with him into the slot in the back of the cockpit and saying the phrase "Let the Light shine, and with it may the darkness be banished!" However, the mech is sentient, and can recognize who is within itself and actively reject anyone who is not of the Merthas line. It will also actively seek out Melchio should he go too far away for a time. Its controls read and mimic the movements of the pilot, allowing for a great deal of control.

Melchio is Human, but he wears a power suit that can amplify his innate abilities, allowing him to channel a bit of his mech's power, even when he is not within it. With it he is able to move at blinding speeds and do things that would be considered impossible for a "normal" fighter. He can fire fists of energy from his hands, and fire a bolt of pure light from his chest. However, its batteries drain after a short period of time, only 1 minute. After that, while it still gives him a fragment of his mech's abilities, it no longer gives him the speed.

The sword he carries is a heirloom from his family; a greatsword. It has been modified by him over the years, being reforged with Pure Mercury, allowing its shaped to be changed by his will, an ability that it can bestow upon his mech. This allows the sword on Kinryujin to grow to a larger size, dubbed the "Colossal Blade". The power in the sword is immense, and time will tell just how much it will expand....

He has a strong rivalry with Daurgoingeir Servoar, the Spellscale pilot of the Pumpking. He is always trying to one-up his scaled friend, but they share a strong bond of camaraderie that goes deeper than the constant back and forth of insults and instigation. They have known each other for a few years now, and their friendship will likely only grow while fighting alongside one another.

Despite being physically strong, he is reckless. As a result, when he's not being protected by his mech, he becomes an easier target for people who pick fights with him. He also has poor aim, which makes his shots inaccurate, which is why he prefers the powers of his sword.

Daurgoingeir Servoar (Draconic for "One who shows due reverence to the dead, who reaches out and strikes the moon." Unfortunately, in the more common Draconic dialect of the galaxy at large, it means "Skullfuck Moonmurder.")

Pumpking (it's a giant robot that looks like a Jack-O-Lantern)

(WIP)

When you grow up getting made fun of because your parents tried to give you a meaningful name but forgot to check the translation in a common dialect, you tend to overcompensate. Daurgo grew up asserting his magical strength over others at the wizarding college of his homeworld, earning the title "Skull Banchou" for his abilities. Being Spellscales, his parents decided to let this go, as he WAS devoting a lot of time to studying the arcane arts and developing magical skills.

Pumpking is not an heirloom of his family, however- it belonged to a rich vampire uncle. However, this rich uncle disliked his spoiled, dickish children and spawn. So when he was slain, his will passed it on to his sister's delinquent son to spite them. This turned out to be a terrible idea, as he gave a banchou sorcerer a giant robot. Terrible things happened, including a bit of a fiasco with the university's plumbing system. However, Daurgo did eventually learn responsibility for his actions when he was forced to help repaint the entire school after an unfortunate blast of flames charred it black.

Mercenary operations have seen him repeatedly run into Melchio Merthas, forming a sort of rivalry with his stick-in-the-mud attitude.
