As the last of the bodies were cleared away and the their contents looted, it was clear between the flight of the last remaining Kier and the sudden absence of any movement around the worshippers of Drancedigaeth that the duty they had come here to perform was completed, at least to the extent that was possible at this time. Perhaps the Kier would return. If they did, blades and axes would be at the ready to meet them.
For now, it meant that successful word of their actions should be delivered first unto the villagers, who would praise them, and thence to their superiors at the temple, who would send them on to greater tasks.
---
It was with the faint echoes of the roaring praise of the villagers in their ears that Red, Madoc, and the others were given new instructions – a cabal of the hated arcanists had taken root in the nearby town of Llosgi, an otherwise unremarkable place that had only recently truly recovered from the war that shattered Arhosa. While wholly unimportant in the grand scheme of things, it had had the misfortune to be proximate to the meeting of two groups of rival magicians during the uprising, and the aftershock of their conflict had burnt houses, torn down structures, and rendered swathes of farmland little more than foetid mire.
Having at last rebuilt the town and regained some of the quiet dignity that accrued to the common folk, word had reached the temple that hidden amongst the residents were the
descendants of one of the two cabals whose earlier conflict had ensured the destruction of the much of the area. Now, it was said, they practiced their talents in secret, being well aware of the attitude that the local area possessed to people of their talents.
It had been considered unnecessary to say what was to happen to the arcanists.
It’s about a week’s travel from the temple to Llosgi, assume you arrive fully healed, and that any expended supplies were replenished during the meantime. It might also be possible to request a cow or two as a parting gift. If there’s any details requested about the town before arrival, now’s the time to ask.
