Today I had a falling out with a friend that compared mind-reading to rape on the basis that it "strips you of any sense of security in yourself".

Honey, I've been given psychotropic drugs against my will based on a wrongful diagnosis of schizophrenia. You have parents who do hypnosis. There isn't a fucking baseline for comparison here.

ouch.... I won't ask for details, that sounds like it wasn't a fun conversation.
Putting it very mildly, yeah.

The worst part is that I keep reliving this stupid conversation in my head about all the things I probably should've said.

Today completely sucked. I got to work to find K_ there. K_ was the former bosses pet snitch. She informs me L_, the current boss, is no longer with the company and she is acting boss until the account manager comes in to interview everyone Wednesday. He needs statements about L_s behavior before then and I am asked to do one. I am told to delete his number from my phone so I don't get fired for 'collusion'. This sets off red flags. If he's already fired, why do they need statements? Then they show me their statements. Apparently L_ threatened to hit one of them and there is a 'screenshot' of it. He's threatened to punch several employees, especially me for going over his head, and claimed I'm lucky he doesn't hit (ableist slur). He also has a pet name for me (dickwad), and thinks I live in my 'own little action movie in my head' (he doesn't believe my reports). Apparently he also slammed a 20 on the table and told me to shove it up my ass, which I do not remember happening. Which makes me question the validity of the rest of it. 1st shift leaves and client management asks me where L_ is, and I tell them he is no longer with the company. On a whim I call his boss and ask his email so I cam mail my statement, and get told L_ is suspended till Wednesday and may be fired pending an investigation, and I am not to let him in. Then I find out K_ has been telling the client L_ is fired and she is the new boss, not the acting boss. Now I'm unsure what to do.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume there isn't someone ABOVE L you can go to in order to report this dipshittery?

Found an old external hard drive that I put in storage after it fell ~2 feet onto carpet and refused to spin up afterwards. Removed it from the enclosure and tried it on my PC, nothing happened. The files on it are really important to me and I have almost no visual memory so the media on it is ENTIRELY lost to me unless I recover it. I can't remember what they look like. I can barely remember how they sounded. This hurts a lot more than I was expecting. Data recovery is VERY expensive though, and I feel like I['m going to have to just swallow a bitter pill and let go of the only chance I have at recovering my memories of them.
It's not gonna get better if you do nothing, but it's not gonna get WORSE, either. It can wait until you're in a better financial position to recover them.

Definitely worth a look. Thanks niji!

Incidentally, if you ever have the time, I could use someone to practice my Japanese with.

If anybody has any idea how a guy from Brazil who recently graduated business school with little skills to his name other than a decent grasp on the English language and a passing knowledge of Japanese can make money online, please tell me.

I'm honestly getting tired of my current unemployment.

OnlyFans?
What kinda content would I create? And don't say 'adult', there's no way people would pay to see my hairy ass.

I think there are some reasonable language teaching positions that work remotely. Some require a bachelors, other's simply require native fluency... in any case, read the fine print and search up reviews of the company, students, and former teachers if possible!

Obviously this would require a reliable home internet connection and computer as well as a microphone and head set or good speakers.

(cosplay may or may not be permitted, depending on contract....) ^^

I've been looking into this, but as with everything that has to do with employment my search-fu is too weak.

(Would be cool if I could teach in cosplay, though.)

So tonight I finally put the final word on a story I had been writing on a freeform game for going on... about eight years now, I think.

Due to a complete clusterfuck of circumstances, it was basically all but abandoned by the beginning of this year, but even if I wanted it to end with a whimper, not a bang, I still wanted to give everyone involved a chance to say goodbye to their characters in a manner befitting them. After all, they spent most if not all of that time writing with me.

And thanks to an absolute asshole of a stalker (seriously, fuck that guy with a rusty spoon), the absolute apocalypse that this year is turning out to be and the forums the story was in exploding, I had to essentially have a funeral for that game by myself. So... yeah, feeling pretty melancholic by now.

My grandpa died on the 22nd from Alzheimer's.  He was 93 and served in WW2.

My condolences.

May the good memories ever warm your heart whenever you remember him.

We've been averaging 32-36ยบ Celsius days out here (that's 89-97 F for you yanks out there) in spite of Fall being right around the corner, heatwave is supposed to end on Sunday, and then temperatures are supposed to plummet.

Bolsonaro has supposedly taken two tests so far, one was positive, the other was negative, so.

Though it kinda begs the question. Bolsonaro and Trump are both hated as public figures. If one infects the other with Corona, will either be praised?  :lol

EDIT: Oh, and in non-viral-related news, my sister has decided to throw one of her famous epic tantrums and make my life miserable once again, by ransoming our relationship as usual. I told her in no uncertain terms that I am no longer moved by her tears. Not when they come from where they are. I can't let her manipulate me anymore.

I do feel bad for my mom, though. She can't stand seeing me and her at odds, it breaks her heart. Oh, and the reason for her tantrum?

She disagreed with the way I put songs into the mp3 player she bought for our ailing father, in spite of me paying for a charger, an SD card AND a headphone it did not come with.

Guys, I get that everyone is concerned about that virus, but here's two things to keep in mind.

1) Wash those hands, stop touching your face, and keep calm. Probably the most important one. People are freaking out over how contagious this is, but they forget that the remission rate is actually pretty damn high. This is yet another airborne virus that puts people with low immunities at risk. You guys remember H1N1? That was the last time I got sick with something like that, and it was at a time that my immunity was tanking pretty bad. And if I survived it, so can you.

2) The whole world is coordinating on this. It won't be long before a cure is found, but by then we will have other stuff on our plate. Previous epidemics of measles and the like could have been significantly more devastating. Don't buy into the fear. Just make sure your elder and child-aged loved ones drink plenty of OJ and follow step one, okay?

Question: If there are hostiles inside a battleship and i use deadly circle and slash clearing the senses to autodetect everything can i attack targets inside the ship as if in my melee reach like the manuever says? I already basically have the ability to cut through dimensions and all pretty casually  :rolleyes

No, mechas (and thus battleships) have internal anti-teleport/etherealness/incorporeal fields so that battles don't become "ignore mechas, take out the pilots directly". :p

Which of course also makes it a pain in the ass to get your mecha inside if you need to teleport into them, unless they have built-in IFF signals too.

Don't blame me if my presence makes everything worse like Hugo anticipated.

I am torn between being amused at the idea that people are actually taking Hugo's advice and the impending catastrophe of being able to say "I told you so".

You mean you didn't spend a feat on being able to switch them with a full-round action?

Was I the only guy who used to play a lotta swordsages? XD

Well I can help with area effects on the next round, but as of right now my actions are done.

Were you expecting to have to blow up the ENTIRE SHIP with us in it?  :lmao
