Gaming Advice / looking for a feat that I saw in a fun finds post.
« on: June 14, 2014, 07:10:12 PM »
Someone posted a feat, from Dragon I think, that allowed you to have 5 + HD ranks in INT based skills.  Does anyone remember what that was?   I wrote it down in my "Nifty Things" notebook, but I cannot locate it anymore.

So my group has always played that Inspire Courage does not take effect until the next initiative for the Bard that began it.  Right now I am creating a Bard cohort and have been reading up on them to make sure I play him correctly.  In this reading I have not seen anything in the description that would indicate this.  Has the group been playing with a House Rule this whole time, or is this a hold over from a previous edition?

Gaming Advice / Re: Chain spell question:
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:18:26 PM »
I was just wondering IF I found a ray with a target entry and used chain spell on it, would I have to make aditional attack rolls or would they be automatic hits. I have a playet who is wanting to use a charater who triggers sneak attack off of chained spells.

That would be a volley attack and ony the first would qualify for SA

Gaming Advice / Re: Blackwater Tentacle Spell - cast on a moveable object?
« on: February 22, 2014, 04:10:17 PM »
I think it's meant to be stationary.  If you had it sprout from the fighter's shield I don't think the fighter would get to take the shield with him when he moved away, because "The tentacle appears at a particular point within range and can't move from that location."

I just found out Maat Mons is a giant active volcano on Venus.

Had you thought I'd named myself for a goddess' privates?

This is what I had always assumed.   :P

I gotcha, thanks for the responses.  I'm pretty sure my current DM will allow it for my PC and his followers, or as my group wants all members to DM at some point, I'll use it with my BBEG.  ;-]

I'd rule it as a yes since the feat says "You are healed by negative energy...as if you were an undead creature."  Basically, treat the character as undead for negative energy effects that fiddle with HP, including temp HP such as with Ennervation.  Your mileage may vary though.

If the one using it is going to split hairs over the exact wording, then it's probably a no.

Which part of the wording makes you lean that way?  I know Enervation isn't exactly trying to heal him, but as TTS states "You are healed by negative energy" and the effect of Enervation is: ray of neg energy.  I know it's greyish, but I wanted to check here before taking the feat.

Does a PC with TTS gain temp HP when hit with Enervation like an undead would?

So I just pre-ordered my copy of ESO: Imperial Edition today.  Anyone esle picked it up yet?
Dear god why?

I have been waiting for an Elder Scrolls MMO since Morrowind.  And most of the gameplay I have seen looks pretty good to me.  And I haven't been into anything heavy for a while.

I would say it works perfectly with the tapestry.  You select two people to switch positions, then select another two, then another.  You can choose to not include whomever you want, so as long as you have pairs to select I don't see how it wouldn't work

An 11 Wisdom means you can only cast 1st level spells.  My advice would be don't waste the feat.

But a simple 2k item gets you up to 3rd. Find a way to get Owl's Insight as a clicky 10/day or some such and never have to worry about it.

Having an 11 certainly limits the selection, but with some careful buffs you can still get the 9s with some WBL applied.

Just get a ring of spell storing.  I think it's the greater that can have up to 10 spell levels in it, and it has no restrictions on spells, actually it says "any spell".
Quote from: SRD
A spellcaster can cast any spells into the ring, so long as the total spell levels do not add up to more than threeMinor(fiveRegular or tenMajor).

Ring

The Returning Attacks ability specifically says:

Quote
Once you use this ability, you can recover the maneuver you expended and use it normally.

It is a readied maneuver per use.

I believe the 4th level BB ability allows you to get the same effect without the need of expending a maneuver.
Is that actually correct?

It appears so...

Mine is still young, only 5th level, but I am really loving Create Magic Tattoo so far.  The best ones are the long durration and/or highly flexible effects.  Presto is always my 0th for example.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: [3.5]Help needed on a Custom Magic Item

So... please explain why I would spend such a vast amount of gold rather than just use the rules for combining effects?

DM has a houserule to limit it to only 2 effects on an item or run the risk of it becoming sentient and trying to take us over, so I'm looking for ways around that.

I'd go the route of unslotted items then.  It's x2 the cost, but likely still cheaper, and they would all be on different items.

Where are the rules for making slotless items?  I went through the DMG but didn't see anything.

The DMG is not on me at the moment so I can't give a page quote, but here it is from the SRD.  http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm

Specifically down on the table; No space limitation. Multiply entire cost by 2.  The example they give is the Ioun stone, who if you compare the stones to items which give similar bonuses do follow said x2 cost.

Thanks!  I found it in the book in case anyone cares, the table is on 285.  it's in the DMG which means the likelyhood of me getting custom slotless items just went up!  Thanks guys!
