You find a small catch at the bottom of the wall, hidden under a hidden panel in the floor.

<Great. I'll take it from here. I'll let you know if I get into trouble.> Dirk says telepathically to Kana, then he opens the secret door and walks in trying to look like he belongs there.

There are two kobolds bickering at one another in the centre of the room, the floor near them has a trapdoor on it and it seems they are debating whether to open it.

They dont seem to pay attention to you entering the room.

Greed is, meanwhile, standing menacingly outside the door, looking impatient, with his massive maul slightly raised. "He always gets the fun parts..."

Dirk just walks over casually and listens to their conversation, while looking back and forth between each of them and the trapdoor.

Kergis waits in the hall, guns in their holsters as he waits for a chance to shoot something again.

They aren't paying you much attention and finally seem to come to a decision to open the door. They each grab rings set into the door and heave the hatch open revealing a spiral staircase.
However, even with darkvision you cant see more than two steps down the stairs.

Dirk says nonchalantly (in draconic): "Wow... it's dark down there."

telepathically he relays to Kana <There are two of these scaly bastards opening a trapdoor. I have no idea what's in it, because is magically darkened. Gonna try and see what they're up to.>

One of the kobolds pulls out a strange lantern that seems to shed no light but banishes the darkness in the trapdoor away for a couple of steps. He then begins to descend the stairway followed by his companion.

Kana whispers the telepathically-received information to Greed and Kergis, then says, "So, it seems that he's about to go and get himself into trouble again... and without us! Where's the fun in that?"

Dirk follows them, relaying to Kana <I'm following them down into the trapdoor, to see where it leads. You guys can come into the room now.>

Following the Kobolds down into the darkness you begin to hear a deep breathing noise, as though there was an enormous creature down here. You still don't see anything past about 15 feet though. Eventually the stairs stop and the kobold with the lantern hangs it on the wall. He then places a bundle on the altar in front of him and shouts into the darkness "Drasnithar" What this means you have no idea, it could be a name or a word in a language you don't know.

Shortly afterwards the breathing begins to get closer and a loud noise can be heard, the kobolds rush back up the stairs leaving the lantern and run past the waiting party members without paying them much attention.
