I don't look at this as you being a backup or a guard for the covert mission we're walking into, nor do I look at this as us - me in particular - being a liability for the firefight we're walking into. I think it's more likely that the Campus is unsure about exactly what it is that we're dealing with, so they sent a mix of skills and talents to cover lots of different possibilities and scenarios.

As for the rentals, we shouldn't get cargo vans, they're way too suspicious. And we shouldn't get two of the same thing either. I would say, let's get one minivan (we can take out / fold down the seats), and one larger SUV. Neither one should be black. Maybe... one green, and one blue.

David exits the plane, and goes to the cargo door to start loading equipment into the van.

"Well,we can leave the gear in the plane for now since it's still in the crates. And the van only has room for us."Emma says as she hops into the passenger van to go to the terminal

Rufus paused a bit in thought as David mentioned the vehicle colors.  "Come to think of it, are we dead sure the semi and escorts are black?  That kinda seems conspicuous going down the middle of New York.  Even at night a dark blue or purple is better than black at blending into the sky."

David shrugs and takes a seat in the van. You shouldn't even be trying to "blend in" to the night sky in the middle of New York anyway - there's way too much ambient light. If it were me, I'd definitely have it be a white trailer with some random corporate markings, and then two random-looking cars as escorts. All black is always suspicious - unless you work backstage in a theater."

"Well I think the government if that's who is moving the whatever gets a discount when it buys cars and such in bulk and it's cheaper to go with black" Emma shrugs

Truth. Unfortunately, for our purposes, they're just a liiiitle more common in Manhattan than 53' tractor-trailers... David trails off in thought, but then perks back up. However, that could make it a little easier for us to potentially pull a switcheroo, should the opportunity arise.

"Do we have a way to track it besides by sight?  We'll need to figure out what kind of tracking they're using before we think too much about switching trucks on them.  It ain't like the old Hogan's Heroes days."

That's why I got the GPS dots. There's also traffic cams. Heh. Anybody up for an Italian Job?

And just hope we don't knock out power to the whole city? Too risky, we should try to figure out where it's at and go form there. We have a day and a half before they move whatever is inside of it.

"I assume we'll be stopping them by putting a 20mm round through the trucks engine?"

Mumbling, as he gets out of the van, It wasn't a real suggestion...

Well, if it comes to that. But I think we could try some other more subtle methods of disabling the truck if we have to disable it. Imagine, for example, this scenario: We find the truck while it's parked, and remove all of the oil from the engine. When it seizes up, what do they do? Call a towing company? If so, we're the towing company. Rent a new truck? We show up with the replacement. Or something like that. Or this scenario: We set up a fake police checkpoint, maybe our cover is checking for drunk drivers, or just random bomb checks - the NYPD is always doing stuff like that. While we're inspecting, one of us sneaks inside the truck and grabs whatever the thing is. And those two are just off the top of my head. I'm sure when we really put our heads together, we'll be able to come up with something much better.

Well the way I see it is : we still have yet to figure out how to transport our gear to the hotel, and how to figure out where the truck is even at.

David pulls out his phone and calls up the Hertz website. Let's see... How about a Dodge Caravan and a Ford Escape XLT? Or do we want to swap the Ford Escape for a Chevy Suburban?

"How about two Suburbans or one Suburban and a normal cargo van made to look like something else?
