[PTT] Pokémon Lithium / Reach for the Sky!
« on: August 30, 2014, 12:25:07 AM »
Morning has broken.  The noctowl have long since gone to sleep, only the most studious day-owls staying up to draw the mid-day shades.  Unfortunately, no such noctowl exists in your room.  The light sears in from the window, striking all five of you (and all four eyes of felix and Xavier(and all three separate species on the bed(and both the human girls in both their eyes a piece( and somehow covering all one humano-poke-pile(or is it a heap?))))).

You may all make the higher of wisdom or intelligence rolls.

[PTT] Pokémon Lithium / The Narrow Road to the Deep North
« on: August 20, 2013, 10:09:59 PM »
As you leave Quilly and Rilly behind, the city buzzes with the now-yesterday's news of the large explosion and the stolen documents.  As you pass by a tabloid stand, you see an issue of "The Daily Delibird"  The cover is done in what must be a compilation of photographs put together hastily.  The feature article seems to be "The True Face of the Shinra Swiper!?"

The presence of the question mark sends mixed messages.

As the two of you pass by it, you recall that the path north is fraught with forest and thick underbrush.  Perhaps provisions would be in order.

The footsteps reach you and you see the elderly man who took your money and

wearing odd outfits with vaccuum cleaners strapped to their backs.

"Be careful young ones!  These are real ghosts!"  the woman calls
"If I were you, I'd get out!  These buddies may mean business!"  The man calls out.

The ghosts do not seem pleased at the presence of these two.  The candle in the middle of the room's flame burns brighter, it's flame turning from orange to a bright blue hue.

Period, unfortunately, not only left no trail, but also quickly spiraled around in front of and behind you.  You aren't sure whether she went forwards or backwards or is somewhere far off the path right now.  You aren't particularly worried, you know that she has her Unown with her and you have your loyal pokemon as well.  Regardless, you have several options in front of you.

On a sleepy path
With flying flowers above
Musharna River

Period races off, following her intuition that this thundering sound will alleviate the boredom she is feeling so fiercely.

Boom

Boom boom

Boom

Boom boom boom

Like a child tormented by a sentient board game, she follows the sound, getting clearer and more regular, almost musical, before she breaks through some bushes and finds herself transported to what must be some terrifying alternate world.  The sound, she finds, is coming from people smashing sticks into large barrels of wood, it's rythmic and aesthetically pleasing.  The people themselves.  They are all dressed weirdly.  Colorful garb and masks of pokemon, both familiar and unseen, cover the faces of people all around her in the streets.

Vroooooooom~!

Over the crest of the hill you see two young (16?  17?) year olds drive over on what look like bikes with motors.  they look somewhat clunky, but...  they are technically motor bikes.

The two teens pull up in front of you and do a poor job of blocking the path with their small bikes.

One of them is a punk rock looking male with a pastel pink mohawk and a leather jacket studded with (obviously) fake metal spikes.  He's wearing black leather gloves and jeans that look like they have been unfashionably ripped.

The female of the group has similarly pastel pink long hair that goes down her back.  It looks like it got tangled from being wind-swept though.

"Hey!" the male says

"You!"  the female says

"We challenge you to a pokemon battle!  Two on Two!"

"Yeah, that last guy wasn't so hot." The guy says

"Took him out in one shot."  The girl says

"So, do you think you can win?  Let the games begin!" they say in unison.

[PTT] Pokémon Lithium / Prologue: A Test of Courage (Beatrice)
« on: April 05, 2013, 02:49:08 PM »
The entire day has been almost like a dream.  It's finally time for you to go out.  To do what you said you were gonna do.  Now that it is finally time, you can't stop the rapid beating of your heart.  You are there in your room.  Your friend, Victini is sitting on the bed next to you and your pokedex is there on the table near your bed.  It's time...  But what are you gonna do?  A first step is important.  There is Nook cave just to the south of the city, you're pretty sure that is where most people start out.  The pokemon in there are supposed to be really easy to beat, so even if it is someone like you, it should be fine.

There are also some trainers in the 'Trainer's Circle' on the west side of town, then there's the river shortly after that, It's springtime, which means the river is overfull, so you're not sure if you can make it across that way, even the fairies are closed while the river is surging.  To the north is Gold Volcano, but that place is scary, even for high level trainers.  To the east is a forest path, but you're not sure if there are many Pokemon that way.

[PTT] Pokémon Lithium / Prologue: Learning to Walk (Period)

This is it.  You have your bag packed and you're ready to go.  Several of your friends have come to see you off.  Though the scene is a bit different from your typical anime (not that you know what that is), since your friends are all one eyed levitating members of the alphabet).  Did you forget anything?  Do you have any profound words to speak as you cross the threshold of these ruins that have been your home since the beginning?

[GURPS 4.0] The Empty Skies / Ch. 2 And R01and is my Name.
« on: March 20, 2013, 01:44:48 PM »
Saturday, no responsibilities, no chores, such a relaxing day...  This day finds you like any other Saturday might.  Crime has been on a lull, people suspect that Roland may be the reason for the decrease, but nobody can be sure how long this cease fire will last.  On thing is for certain.  In the last week, Roland has garnered a lot of attention.  Roland T-shirts are pretty much the only thing that has had the time to be released, but there will noo doubt be more hype as his popularity grows.

It reminds you of when Megaton Man first came to the city.  The people loved him.  He had moved from New Heaven's Gate to work for a local bank and brought his super heroism with him.

Anyways, the Saturday has come and you have decided to spend the day out in the city.  Where have you gone to?

[GURPS 4.0] The Empty Skies / Ch. 1 What is a hero?
« on: September 18, 2012, 01:55:53 AM »
It started as a perfectly normal day.  Police sirens moving about, business men and women moving to and fro, food vendors yelling at the top of their lungs, trying to get you to buy their delicious, delicious, slop.  The city of Megalopolis is buzzing, from the academic district where MU (nicknamed μ u) houses the next generation's best and brightest, to the eternally churning industrial district (located on the southeastern border of town) which is literally churning with industrial activity as supervisors watch over the robotic arms and steel machinations performing the labor of tens of men.

But your concern is neither with the Depression of Young Literati, nor with the Foundation of the city's exported products.  Instead, the camera slowly pans down on what could be politically described as an eclectic group of individuals both young and old.  Kids toting superhero dolls buzz around the crowd making woooosh noises.  Adults in clothing both mild and Spicy mannered clothing gather in the throng as well.  But a third class of citizen is also peppered among them.  Superheroes.  The city of Megalopolis, Megarcadia is proud of its heroic population, and while the times have been especially tough due to strained relations between heroes, villains, and civilians, for now, the heroes and civilians are gathered together like the good old days.  Heroes in costume are greeted with cheers from those that they have rescued, and for the particularly popular ones, such as Lieutenant Larry, who have truly held the spotlight on their actions, masses of children impede all movement.

The crowd was gathered by the mayor for an announcement.  The entire place is buzzing about what it could possibly be.

The Mayor, an elderly man who was most likely on his last years of office and life,  walked onto the stage.  He was a man whose years showed.  He wore a monocle and top hat and walked with a cane and a limp.  The Mayor ascends onto the stage and reaches the microphone.  As he always does when speaking in front of any crowd, he straightens his coat, adjusts his hat, and clears his throat loudly into the microphone, getting everyone's attention.  And, as he always does, he addresses the audience, saying,

"I'm sure you are all wondering why I've called you here today."

However, unlike other days, every soul in the crowd was unaware of what this meeting was to be about.  The mayor seemed urgent in his notice of the meeting saying that all heroes who are not absolutely incapable of movement (this was meant, primarily, to absolve Clyde, who was watching the meeting on a monitor of the TV store across the street from where he stood, immobile.

"As I'm sure you are all aware of, bill seven one oh two oh one, also known as the self-defense act has been in effect for some time now."

A dull roar rose over the crowd as people began discussing what had been more commonly called 'the anti-superhero bill' while it was being lobbied through the house and senate.

The mayor cleared his throat again

"As all of you may or may not know, many cities have been asked to take part in a..."  The mayor seems to be struggling with the wording.  "Beta testing of a new form of defense."

Before the crowd has a chance to go crazy with discussion, the mayor quickly adds: "Please, everyone, welcome Roland"

What at first seems like some sort of humanoid pillbox walks onto the stage.  A voice, still very far away from the uncanny valley played out loud, as if from a megaphone.

"HELLO.  I AM UNIT R ZERO ONE A N D.  MY MANUFACTURER BESTOWED THE ALTERNATE CLASSIFICATION 'ROLAND' UPON ME.  I AM HERE TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THIS CITY."

The crowd is roaring before the robot even finishes its sentence.  Cries of "How is a robot better than a super." and "awwww, how cute" and even "What're we gonna do with a robot?" are heard piercing the din of everyone speaking.

The Mayor announces with a voice that he hasn't used in years.

"NOW LISTEN!  I will be the first to say that I am proud of this cities heroes, but our city has been selected to house one of these robots.  This does not mean that I will be eliminating superheroes from this city.  Nor is Roland the Harbinger of Ill portent.  We have been asked to receive him.  And he will be assisting local authorities as well as our super heroes in their fighting against crime.  I will remind you that Roland is here on FEDERAL business.  Please, treat him with respect.  I have called this meeting to both inform you of Roland's presence and to allow each of my city's finest as well as it's citizens to interact with Roland before he goes on duty tomorrow.  If you would like to Speak with Roland, he will be here in front of City hall until this evening."

The mayor steps away from the podium and stands next to Roland.

The news copter switches off of it's feed as a one man storm of reporter rushes up to the mayor along with many other heroes and civilians.

Among the crowd of people are three young girls.  The Three young girls collectively spot the Swiss Army Man, along with a few others of the 'older' heroes.  People who have been at it from the beginning.

A well dressed man, answering the call for all heroes, is also present.  He sees Swiss Army Man, a friend, and several other heroes littered around.

It's 7 PM on a Friday.

Introduce Yourself / Another one biting the dust
« on: June 23, 2012, 10:37:46 PM »
I'm newish here.  I've used the resources on the board for a long time now.  I'm a big fan of Japanese culture and history, I've been studying it for a long time.  I'm hunting on the job market now, but one of my friends is hosting a game on here, so I figured it was time to set up an account.

I'm interested in video games as well, though it has been a long time since I've finished one.
