The professor carefully inspects the site.  "Who were these agents? When did these agents expire?  What brought about their demise? Was it our gargantuan liberator?  Did they recently compete a transaction? I wonder with whom or what they last made contact? How long before some one returns?"

He absent mindedly nibbles a limb while immersed in thought.

"A map! Anything interesting nearby?"

Ceir sighs, he was really looking forward to restocking his supplies.

"Does this mean that we are postponing making camp?"

The angel looks around nervously cradeling his torso.

"I-If it's all the same with the group. I would prefer to take some time to rest and pray. Our confrontation with those beasts has left me a bit shaken.  It's a strange feeling for my kind to experience or at least I think it is . . . given that I'm not exactly a typical example of my kind."

He offers a conciliatory smile.

"It will give us time to recoup and evaluate our options."

Using the map as reference along with your newfound knowledge of the local fauna, you can deduce a path through the area that remains strictly in territory not frequented by any local species. Once noted, the path seems designed. The territories of these creatures were being strictly controlled in order to create the illusion of hostile wilderness, which the "hunters" could easily leverage while remaining safe. The destruction of the nearby site must have thrown off the wildlife enough for it to backfire for a while.

"I wonder if anything on the map is edible..." Tiny wonders. Well, more edible than rocks. Everything was edible.

"As long as you please don't eat the map itself," Ceir responds cheerfully.

"A moment of respite would be most welcome. Dealing with the psychic crocodiles has drained a good amount of my prepared spells, which I would like to recoup lest we run into the next combats with our metaphorical pants metaphorically down."

While clearing a spot to make camp, you are able to harvest a good number of stinging nettles, as well as some nutritious roots and enough leaves to make a nice cup of tea.

+4 Doses of Stinging Nettle poison
+2 Rations
+2 Handfuls of tea leaves

Tanya is ready to stand guard, in case more strange creatures decide they look tasty.
Hmm.

Ceir sleeps for two hours, then wakes up and starts crafting assuming no interruptions.

"Thank you, Tanya.  Your diligence does you credit."  Hal-El nods at the guard as he walks about 60 yards away from camp making sure to remain in plain view while affording himself a modicum of privacy.  He kneels quietly for some time, and then you hear the faint sounds of heavenly hymns floating on the breeze.

Slake pulls a large kettle out of his pack and sets it to boil.  "Tea, everyone?"  He looks around eagerly for approval.  "Chrysanthemum indicum tea boasts a delicious if somewhat potent floral bouquet and is used to treat heart, skin, and nerve health.  I'll have mine with a a pinch of these fascinating starving nettles.  I've always wanted to try them.  They should prove excellent for controlling my unseemly appetite and perhaps effective at curtailing those of any predators who might happen upon us. Hungry glances and slavering maws always seem to diminish group cohesion if you know what I mean." The professor smiles and chuckles awkwardly.

"While we relax perhaps we can discuss our long term goals and strategies for thriving and the finer points of tactics for any future battles we might encounter."

Ceir spends the night ignoring everyone after his 2 hour nap and focuses on crafting replacement alchemical supplies.

The night passes without no disturbances, save for the sight of a few curious nocturnal creatures that those of you with keen senses pick up.

Refreshed, you gather your things and continue your journey. With the psionic crocs either dead or in hiding, you have the benefit of using their territory as an uncontested travel zone, at least for now.

Wildlife encounters are entirely optional as long as you stay in croc territory.

"Sounds like we should keep moving as much as possible." Tanya suggests, glad to have gotten a good night of rest.
Hmm.

Razor scans the distance, noting the new wildlife.

"Maybe it is being the good idea. If more will attack, I think we slow down and that is no good."

Now on guard for wandering wildlife, you continue on.

Around midday, you spot a small group of humanoids in the distance:

None of them appear to have spotted your party.

Tanya points out the humanoids, and waits for a moment to determine what direction they are heading.
Hmm.

The other party is headed in your general direction, moving slowly so as not to draw attention from the local fauna.

If neither party changes routes, you will be impossible to miss within a few minutes.

"Well, gentlemen.  The way I see it we have options:
One - send an amiable emissary to greet these potential allies
Two - cede the initiative to them and wait for them to approach
Three - conceal ourselves and observe as they pass by
Four - ambush them with overwhelming force devouring their intentio...*ahem* I mean discerning their intentions and determining what to do with them post interrogation." Slake draws his sleeve across his dribbling mouth.

I am open to all four."
