Spontaneous Wizard Guide
« on: November 07, 2011, 08:27:44 PM »
How do you make your wizard a spontaneous caster?
Well you can't, at least not by the true definition of spontaneous spellcaster, but you can gain the practical end result. Within this very thread me and other contributing members of this board will try to present you with a list of choices to help you in your goal of mimicing spontaneous casting, or just plain expanding your daily list of spells. Just try not to upset the sorcerer any more than he already is.

Attention Handbook Writers! If you wish to openly discuss your handbook in an easily-accessible location, please start a thread in this section (Do not do so in the Handbooks section), and then reply to this thread. Doing so is not required, but handbooks exist for the purpose of compiling useful information regarding the 3.X system. Such handbooks would do well to have a discussion thread.

Elf Generalist Wizard ACF (Rotw) + Collegiate Wizard feat (CArc) + Eidetic Spellcaster ACF (Drg #357) + Domain Wizard ACF (UA) = Lots of spells known and no spellbook to deal with. This saves you money/ rp hassle of needing a spellbook and with other ACFs and feat (like Spontaneous Divination) you can easily fake being a sorcerer.

Don't have my books in front of me, but there's a feat (or possibly ACF) from Elder Evils (or maybe Exemplars of Evil) called Prometheus (?) that allows you to swap out memorized spells for an Illusion (Glamer) that you know...

It's worth noting that the aligned spellcaster alternative class feature (Dragon 357, p88) has the same benefit as planar spellcasting, but at 1st-level.
