After a night of rest, Loptop gathers you all at the edge of the village to address you as a group.

“You maybe think you be tough because you got out of your baby cage, whelps? Psht! You no be goblins. The only real goblins are Licktoads, and a Licktoad without a toad is just… lick. So. If you want be Licktoads, you need to catch a toad at Tadpole Bog and also not die. Then you take the toad to Cave of Darkfear and also not die. Then you show your toad to the Darkfear spirit, and maybe if you really are a goblin, then you also not die. Get toad. Show spirit. Kill anything that wants to stop you. Don’t die. That last part is very important."

She sketches out a crude map, showing the location of Tadpole Bog and the Cave of Darkfear, then shoos you on your way.

Loptop becomes visibly agitated.

"Yes, now shoo!" she yells, and starts to throw rocks and mud at all of you.

More rocks and mud are thrown in response.

The time for questions has clearly passed.

"Kill anything that wants to stop us." Reta nods. "Reta understands. Will do that. Let others do thinking."

Hmm.

"Fine. We'z become licktoads!" Mogmurch sets off in the direction he thinks is indicated on the map. Given he's holding it upside down, this may or may not work.

"You trick toads. Reta grab toads." She would let others do the head work. So would do the simple stuff.

Reta follows Mogmurch who seems to know where he's going.
Hmm.

By sheer luck (and probably from following a well-beaten trail instead of the map) you all arrive at Tadpole Bog.  the occasional lazy bubble breaks the surface of this shallow, stinky pond, and a haze of insects clouds the air in every direction.  Only the occasional gurp-chirp of toadsong breaks through the drone of bugs.

Mogmurch, being the most intelligent of all the goblins (in his own mind), does the sensible thing. He looks for a toad to lick.

Reta scans the bog, her eagerness in finding things to punch being re-purposed to finding things to lick.
Hmm.

You both notice that Tadpole Bog is aptly named and there are toads everywhere.

Also there is a dogslicer sticking out of the peat.

Mogmurch tries to think very very hard about the frogs, but when nothing comes to mind, just sits down on the edge of the bog and waits for one to assume he's just a plant. It works, right up until he totally botches the grab.

"Spitz on you!"

Reta is sneaky sneaky like a sneak (in her own mind) and jumps out towards an unsuspecting toad. She accidentally overshoots her jump, but she feels something toadlike under an arm and quickly grabs it with her other hand. She is momentarily confused at what to do with it as the toad tries very hard to breathe.

Reta then looks longingly at the sword. Looks sharp, like it can hurt a lot of thing. She hands the toad to Mogmurch after a quick lick and says "hold my frog" before moving towards the sword to snatch it.

Mogmurch looks at the toad, twisting it about to see it from all angles. Then, squinting with one eye closed, he gives it a big ol' slurp from legs to head.

Reta discovers two pickled goblin corpses in the water. Along with the dogslicer she finds a second one, a javelin, a grappling hook, an unholy symbol of Zarongel, two wooden spoons, two dead moles, and a jar of pickled fish heads.

In the meantime, Mogmurch feels slightly dizzy and suffers from minor hallucinations, but his sense of pain is dulled.

She dumps the 'loot' on the shore, keeping the sword to herself, a spoon and the dead moles. She then realizes that licking the toad was good, but forgets where she left hers and goes to look for another.
Hmm.

Reta sneaks well this time, and is so focused on sneaking she steps on a frog. Looking down and seeing the frog is still alive, she grabs it.
Hmm.
