Well, I certainly had some ideas for the basic premise from which the sandbox campaign would emerge. I like world-building and writing NPCs, though the quality thereof is not for me to judge.
I think my premise would start with the death of a tenured professor of the Sciences at a prestigious university, a small selection of his former pupils gathered as part of his Last Will and Testament. Only the students present, they are left with the final words of the professor, which instruct them about said professor's secret studies, his discovery and forays into Gramarie, and instructions on how to carry on his legacy by advancing his research into its applications. These students are, to their knowledge, the only ones in the world with knowledge of Gramarie (as SirPercival mentioned in his ideas), and must decide how best to fulfill the Professor's wishes to see Gramarie spread as far as any other science or art.
I foresee a world in which science is the major force, in a world where magic is largely forgotten and only stray mages roam or hide away as hermits or are written off as shysters and swindlers, small cults or sects practice magic in secret, etc. Similar to our world in many respects, there would be some friction between the world of science and religion, which would be seen as the only source of true magic and miracles by the faithful (and all others labelled as heretics).
Hell, if no one here likes that, I'll probably use it for something else in the future.
