Hmm. I had forgotten that tidbit. I checked Righteous Wrath as well and it is fairly specific on what restrictions it eliminates (can deal nonlethal, distinguish friend from foe, stop attacking).

Alright. He won't go into melee yet - still would be nice to get them closer to everyone - but thanks to his boots he is always considered readied for a charge (2x damage). If he gets charged, feel free use that attack roll. His statblock reflects Savage Species' "more hands is good rule," which gives .5 Str for each additional hand used.

I thought the range penalty was -2 for each increment beyond the first? Just for future reference.

Uh... yeah, that's what I meant. [Sure I did...] :embarrassed

Troll is 40 feet away, so that would be 3 increments beyond the first, or –6.  Sorry 'bout that.

... Well, technically, at 10 feet you suffer the penalty, too, and at 40 it would be –8, but I don't think anyone ever actually plays it that way, because then it's impossible to use a dagger thrown without either taking a penalty, or suffering an AoO.  So, technically I was right, but I would never actually play it that way  ;)

I treat range increments as inclusive of the last square, not exclusive of the last square (which, though RAW, is dumb).  So yeah, it would have been –6.

Yeah, the extra hands adding Str damage is all good.

And that d20 roll is just waiting for the inevitable charge...  :smirk

No troubles.  We all get sucked away every now and then.  Cripes, I let things lay fallow for two months last fall; I got no room to gripe  ;)

A few days is nothin'.

And we still made over 400 posts in the last year despite the real life chaos (1 year ago was the end of the Prologue).
Not too shabby, in my opinion. Maybe not the fastest PbP game I've been in, but it is the most persistent.

As an aside, I'm going to be taking over as DM for my Skype group for a while. I've already decided on one of the recurring villain groups since one of the players is a follower of Odin (mixed pantheon sandbox setting). There's going to be a group of Shifters and Lycanthropes who revere Fenrir and want to unchain the 'Lord of Beasts'. Needless to say, Odin will not be delicious...I mean, delighted, to hear that.
Hmm.

That sounds cool.  Hope you have fun with it.  I never have given Skype a real try in attempting long-distance gaming.  Never know what the future hold.  But for now I'm full up trying to DM four games at once (two table-top, two message board).  When life gets busy, sadly, it's you guys that suffer for a bit.

On that note, sorry for the delay; I was in small-town Kansas for a funeral over the weekend.  At least the travel time gave me plenty of time to read through a large chunk of Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, which is what one of my table-top groups will be entering in the near future.

Edit:  It looks like most everyone is delaying/readying until the troll's engage in melee.  It is Skulda's turn.  I'll try to get back to this tonight; if phaedrus hasn't gone by then, I'll have the trolls go, and then the delayed actions can all occur, and Skulda can jump in when she's able.

Skydragonknight, were you wanting to ready an action?  I know your turn got discombobulated; so far as I can tell, all you ended up doing was moving onto the road and speaking.  You still had a standard action left.  If you want to have readied an attack against the trolls, that's all good with me  ;)

Readied action to trip->Improved trip then. If it's a charge, the "readied vs charge" from the boots will take priority (sweet double damage). I have no idea how multiple readied actions works, but however you want to do it is fine with me.
Hmm.

Technically, the boots don't interfere with any of your normal actions, so you'd get both, I suppose.  Yeah, the boots are powerful in the right situation, but I think it'll be alright.  If it becomes a problem I might revisit it, but I doubt it'll come up often enough to matter.

A small note on Dragonfire Inspiration, it doesn't apply to spell damage.
Quote
Dragonfire Inspiration
Type: Draconic
Source: Dragon Magic
You can channel the power of your draconic ancestry into the attacks of your allies.
Prerequisite: Cha 11, dragonblood subtype, bardic music.
Benefit: When you use your bardic music to inspire courage, you can choose to imbue your allies with dragonfire. This choice made when first activating the ability, and the choice applies to all allies affected.
Special: Each ally so inspired loses the standard morale bonus on weapon attack rolls and damage rolls. Instead, he deals an extra 1d6 points of fire damage with his weapons for every point of morale bonus that your inspire courage ability would normally add to the attack roll. For example ...

It doesn't really affect the current battle that much, as the troll whore would have been unconscious anyway, and phaedrus forgot to add his CL to the produce flame damage, so it only resulted in 5 extra points of damage.  Just something to note for the future.

I also forgot to add the DFI fire damage to Thorgrim's attacks; I just added average damage after the fact for the two attacks that landed against the troll (it was already unconscious; now it will be for several more rounds).

Einar, Agni, or Hymir can go at their leisure.

Doesn't the whole "weaponlike spells" thing from Complete Arcane (or was it Tome and Blood) apply here? I forget how generally that was worded, but if it lets you apply damage from feats like Weapon Specialization to spell damage that involves attack rolls (and I'm pretty sure it specifically said you could take Weapon Focus: Rays, for example), then it should apply to DFI as well, I'd think.

Edit: It seems it says the exact opposite, in fact. :P Sorry about that. I assumed that if one feat would apply, then other feats should as well.

Edit2: Although it is interesting that it says that "combat feats" apply, but bardic inspire courage specifically doesn't. It's odd that they split those two things up as being different.

No problem.  It is a convoluted game we play  ;)

Like I said, it didn't really have much of an affect on this battle.

It's totally up to you if you want to chase after the other troll.  As phaedrus mentioned, you got the whore, which is what Bram was concerned with.

If you're done, or once the troll is dealt with, Bram can try contacting Trogdor.

ksb, I've been thinking on my character for a while and wanted to know if you would allow me to swap one feat... If you allow it, I will drop Improved Trip for Improved Initiative.

I realized that it will take quite a while to not suck on trip and spells help me do some small BFC...

Yes, that feat swap is fine.

So sorry for the delay.  I've began having daily headaches the weekend of Superbowl Sunday, and I'm just now beginning to manage them down to a tolerable level.  That, plus added work load at my job have been wiping me out a lot of the time.  It'll be a few days yet before I'm able to kick things back into gear, but I've not forgotten about all of you.

Well that sounds horrible.  I've had a couple of people close to me die of cancer, not fun.

I'm still unemployed and living on a friend's couch...
