Truespeak (Int, trained only)
Truespeak DCs (-- means I haven't decided on a DC at all yet, not that there is no DC)
Action | DC (Creature) | DC (Object) | DC (Location) |
Speak Truename | 10 + creature's CR + creature's Charisma modifier | 10 + object's CL (if magical) + object's Charisma modifier (if intelligent), or wielder's DC (use highest) | Special (based on size and importance of location) |
Speak Truename: You can speak any truename you know. In and of itself, this has a few effects, and many other abilities are bolstered by speaking a creature or object's truename before using them.
When you speak a creature or object's truename, you immediately become aware of its location, and it of yours. This transcends distance, solid obstructions, and even planar boundaries. Each of you also becomes aware of the others' actions for the next 1 round.
When you speak a location's truename, you become aware of its location, and how many creatures are within the area. Creatures and objects within the area become aware of your location for 1 round as if you'd spoken their truenames.
Successfully speaking a truename requires a successful Truespeak check, which depends on the subject's truename. Failure carries no consequences, and you can try again with your next standard action. Speaking a truename is a standard action.
Research Truename - Discover a creature, object, or location's truename. Can also be done with Knowledge skills appropriate to the subject in question, although Truespeak does everything.
Obscure Truename - Make a truename harder to discover.
Obfuscate Truename - Make a truename harder to speak.
Counterspeech - Attempt to negate the speaking of a truename.
The DC for a subject beyond line of sight is 2 higher than normal.
The DC for a subject beyond line of effect is 5 higher than normal.
The DC for a subject on another plane is 10 higher than normal.
These modifiers stack. As such, most extraplanar subjects have a DC 17 higher than normal.
