[3.5] Monkey Grip fix
« on: November 05, 2011, 11:16:11 PM »
Monkey Grip [Fighter]
It was much too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. It was more like a slab of iron.
Prerequisite: Str 15 or Jotunbrud
Benefit: You may treat weapons as one size category smaller for determining whether you can wield them. For instance, you could wield a Large longsword as if it were a Medium longsword. The weapon retains the base damage and reach it would have if wielded by a creature of its original size, but is somewhat more difficult to use. After making an attack which takes advantage of its improved reach, your reach reverts to the normal for a weapon of your size and you take a -2 penalty to attack rolls until the start of your next turn. If your attack allows you to make follow-up attacks (eg. when you drop an opponent and have the Cleave feat), the penalties come into effect only after these bonus attacks are made.
Normal: You can use a melee weapon one size category larger than you are with a -2 penalty on the attack roll, and the amount of effort it takes to use the weapon increases. A larger light weapon is considered a one-handed weapon, a larger one-handed weapon is considered a two-handed weapon, and you cannot use a larger two-handed weapon at all. Wielding a larger weapon does not improve your reach.
Special: If you wield a reach weapon in this manner it grants 1.5x the reach of a normal weapon its size, rather than 2x the reach. (eg. a Large longspear would have a reach of 15ft rather than 20ft)
Special: You may select this feat multiple times, each time increasing the size of the weapons you can wield by another category.

Sword as a Shield [Fighter]
Your weapon is large enough to block attacks.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +1
Benefit: When wielding a weapon designed for creatures larger than your own size, you gain a +1 shield bonus to AC for each size category of difference.
