Some caliber information on one cannon  ("a Seki-School one-kan (3.75 kg) cannon, caliber: 8.5cm, gun length: 90.2cm, total length: 140cm")and the weight of a cannon ball of another ("In August 1813, towards the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, Nobusada Seki, descendent of Masanobu Seki ordered a cannon of 300 me, weight of cannon ball: 1,125g") from Yozo Iwata, an Edo gunsmith. .

No particular source, I just recalled reading about them somewhere. Its just some kind of armored sleeve/shin guard variant. Useful for unarmed combat in the same way gauntlets were.

Hmm, its possible the iron rods are fictionalized, or improvised variants. They won't be quite as good as concealed chain or scale, but works better as backup weapons due to being stiff.

Also damn, those are some good concealed armor.

It is also quite possible that iron rods like you described were used to make armor by someone at one time, the Japanese were ingenious when it came to making armored clothing, concealed armor and lightweight portable armor, and yet these items get almost no mention in any books. I recently came across a type of kabuto (helmet) that was made entirely from twisted wire, its the only one I have ever seen and there is no mention of this type any were that I can find.

So far I can not find any names that show a difference between types of cannon when searching google images.  When you search for "taihou" the images of different types of cannon seem to all be labeled as "taihou" with out any other name used to distinguish between the different types, the only exception I know of is for the small "hiya taihou" and the o-zutsu hand cannon. Western cannon and Japanese cannon made in the western style seem to have been lumped together into one name.
