A bit of terror wells up in Nanashi, but he swallows his fear.  At this size, he can almost picture that he is fighting three sensei...

but that would be much worse.

Instead he focuses on the bears.  Nanashi's arm-runes glow blue as he deflects the first bear, punching it in the face as it claws past. (6 damage)

The second bear strikes with the force of the full moon, It's all nanashi can do to hold it back and slide out from under it.

He delivers a quick chop to the final offending bear. (6 damage)

The rabbit-girl appears to have vanished.  I suppose she isn't going to help you out anymore than she already has.

Well, Nanashi, you're up.

Nanashi reaches into his pockets and draws forth two rolls of coins, gripping them in his fists.

"C'mon now!"

He fiercely punches at the weakest looking bear.

"NANASHI!" I scream, pointing to a weakness in the bear's side.  "TAKE IT!"

I surprise everyone, especially myself, by actually connecting with my sword.

For the first time, my blade has tasted blood.

(Eight points of blood!)

Filled with sudden--and surely unwarranted--confidence in myself, I attempt to counterattack!

"This is competent fighting, eh?" I muse as I hack into the bear.  "It's quite something..."

(Nine points of something!)

Nanashi, you cleanly parry the bear's blows.

Spider, you... Wait, you actually hit?  Really?  I'm not sure what to make of this.  What do you think, Carl?

"Yeah, I'm pretty surprised too.  Well, I guess you'll just have to roll with it."

Fair enough.  Beneath your blows yet another bear falls.  Take that, bears!

Nanashi, back to you!
