Edit: Also SirPercival. Do you believe Swarms should be availiable for imprinting? They are treated as single creature but are not so I am not sure if I can imprint them. What do you think?

Here is a small background. It is mainly focused on his creation. I left the last 9 years intentionally blank so we can tie it in with whatever you have in mind.

Ubar is a Venerable Mage in the city of Gratis. Since the beginning of his career he pursued the subject of, as he calls it, Eugenics Arcana. His dream was to create perfection, to bring into being a human with all the abilities so freely available in nature. For years he struggled with subtle Transmutation spells, engineered to affect and gently alter creatures while still in the womb. Although he was getting good results, he found the procedures too slow. So he started the L-series experiments.
The L-series purpose was to investigate the possibility of altering the basic biological nature of an already developed organism. First starting with vermin and animals, he found out that while the procedures not always worked the success rate was high enough to continue to human experiments. He started abducting urchins from the streets for that purpose. El was one such child.

El was 12 years old when he was taken, along with 31 other children during a two year period. He was also the last as Ubar found out that humans where far more complicated and that the biological restructuring during the procedure killed them all. He had little hope the last child would survive when he injected him with the mutagenic and started the necessary spells.  Amazingly El survived.

Ubar stopped the L-series and instead focused on his old experiments and on studying El. It seemed that the boy had some latent arcane abilities (Magic-blooded). When the transmutation and mutagenic tried to instill him with the essences of the fey (unseelie fae) and celestials (aasimar) the two opposing bloodlines ripped his body and psych apart. So his magic rushed in to fill the void somehow forming a connection with something…..strange. Ubar couldn’t find out what that connection was, it seemed to be planar but he couldn’t find anything more.

Nine years later and it is today. El has spent those years training and developing his abilities. This year High Arcana Games have a special significance for his creator and mentor. El will enter the games not only to win but to showcase to the rest of the Magi the success of Ubar’s experiments.

That set of monsters looks pretty formidable. I'll have a poke around later when I have a moment but it looks like you're off to a good start.

I am reading dementia imprinting and I noticed something. As it is written it seems you do not imprint an average representative of that creature type. Rather you imprint that particular individual, meaning you can make a case that the creature keeps character levels after imprinting. If that is the case I can imprint a 14th level character or even higher (if he has lower than 10 charisma). Who needs monsters!   

I am sure that is not the intention of the class though so I will restrain myself

I think that is not the intent -- I also am not convinced that you're allowed to even imprint templated creatures.

I think that is not the intent -- I also am not convinced that you're allowed to even imprint templated creatures.

As for the character levels I am sure that wasn't the intent.  I didn't even think about templates but you are probably right.

Wow, that picture is exceptionally awesome. It might be better in a spoiler tag, though?

Also, I have a bit of extra gold I'm not sure what to do with and you have a +19 UMD check. Would you object to my buying a couple of wands to be handed off to your character when play begins?

Specifically I'm thinking of Benign Transposition, which would be nice for switching a character in trouble with one of your summoned friends.

Also maybe Lesser Vigor. I've got one already but spreading them out wouldn't hurt.

So, affiliation wise I can't muster the points to actually join the Red Lotus and I'm not even very close to getting there.

On the other hand, I currently can get to 8 in the Praesidio Arcanum and I'll be able to hit Securus level shortly if I work at it.

Alternatively, I can get 4 in the Delvers and not really worry about pumping affliation scores.

Would PA or Delvers work better with the group?

The PA are the strong arm of the Magi so I think it would be beneficial to the group to have someone in there.

We were talking about maybe going mainly Red Lotus (since we are out to overthrow the Imperium or at least seriously alter it) but since I'm utterly useless at being RL and actually pretty decent at being PA I think I'll go with that.

Ultimately we're all working towards higher and darker goals so I don't suppose it matters too much if our outward affiliations clash. Heck, maybe I can convince the PA I'm infiltrating the RL and Flay (or whoever goes RL) can convince the RL he's infiltrating the PA or something.

I get a pretty lousy affiliation with just about anyone except the Magi. So I am thinking Magi since it also fits with my background.

Well knowledge is power, I doubt they would turn down a source of information from within the PA or the Magi.

Maybe, but I'm not sure it would fit. Affiliations seem to represent established groups with significant weight in Gratis. I'm not sure that our conspiracy extends much beyond our team.

I have to write the stat blocks for the various beasts and wild shape forms, but I can do it as we play.


SirPercival: My creature list is finalized if you want to check it. They are pretty standard except maybe Dharculus which has the Dualplanar(Ex) ability.
