Gahhh!! Valrin nearly jumps out Punka's backpack when Zero drops the talisman on him. You have got!! To stop doing that my friend!! Hahahaaa.. One of these days I'm likely to magic missle you! He grins as he clutches his chest. We were about to go down.. I just cast a spell to make us fall slower, these stairs are a death trap hahaha. He resettles himself inside the backpack. Alright well.. I'm obviously not going first soooo- He lets his words linger as he looks back and forth between his friends.

Mercutio, there!  Alphonse shouts, pointing to the area the mists are swirling around the most (or the area he heard something move in, if different).  Is there enough room to drop one of your sparkly spells without it blinding us all?  There's someone lurking here invisibly.  Block the exits so he can't escape!
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Riek's eyes changes in a split second. They suddenly assume elven resemblance and he starts looking around in battle position, ready to throw his mind arrows.

Kwah-Yah shrugs, addressing Zero. "I got nothing. You?" He then turns to Valrin "Sure you want to go down like that? I don't think whatever came up went up flying, if we are to figure out the paths they took we must descend the same way they came up."

Mercutio lets loose with a Glitterdust centered on the square that Alphonse indicates, and then if he sees anything "light up", puts his horn to his lips and lets out a reverberating blow on it that echoes through the complex.

((ooc: no zero is with Valrin and Kwah-Yah, who are standing at the top of the pit.  the other half of the group is over near snorri's study area in the "lower halls"
your technically further down in the haunt than they are.))

((ooc: well in the very first post dna1 mentioned that the stairs here at the pit are tricky. and can take anywhere from minutes to hours. ravenloft seems to play with that section of the haunt quite a bit from the sounds of it. so in-character, I would usually float down, then take the stairs back up.))

Valrin turns back to Kwah-Yah. Hahahaa well last time we went down those stairs it took hours. So I just bypass them when I can. Thats why I suggested just heading straight down to look around. I doubt we can find much on the stairs anyways... I look over to Zero before I continue. Say.. Zero can you see in the dark pretty well? Why don't you just fly down to the bottom real quick and look around? Make sure there isn't a were-rat ambush waiting on the outskirts of our vision? Then we can hop down and join you.

We can do better than that can't we Punka! He smiles as he pats the half-orcs head.

Valrin quickly grabs a few things from his pouch, muttering a incantation causing one of the crackers in his hand to light up. He repeats the process 5 more times until he has a handful of crackers shining like little torches. He looks to Zero and grins as he tosses most of them down the pit, the tiny crackers landing at the bottom illuminating a 20ft area around each one. He looks to Zero and outstretches his hand which is holding the last two crackers.
I thought you might want to carry these down and toss them somewhere? He says while him and Punka look down below. Straining his eyes reveals nothing out of the ordinary though.

flings a light cracker off into the darkness, down towards a sewer grate or tunnel in hopes to see anything more

Kwah-Yah ponders. "Right, if that's the case, no need to wait any longer... Let's go."

((ooc k let me help you guys move things along a bit.))

Valin, Punka, and Kwah-Yah jump down the pit. They float gracefully to the bottom. Zero flys down and joins them. As you all stand there you can hear the rats scurry about in the darkness. Nothing unusual seems to immediately jump out at you though.
