"Indeed it does! I'm glad we have you to protect us from villains like Pyrebird." Sam forces himself to swallow before his words get completely muffled by breakfast. "It must be really awesome to be a hero and fight for justice all the time like you do..." The realization that he's out here with Scattershot, who's slated for a duel with yet another superpowered moron, starts creeping unpleasantly into Sam's mind. Not that he had much else to do today besides homework, but what's he gotten himself into this time?

"Say...I could use a sidekick! Want to try it out? Don't worry, bullets don't hurt." Scattershot is saying some incredibly disturbing things.

The incredibly disturbing things Scattershot is saying are disturbing Sam an incredible amount. "Well, I, uh...don't really know what you need to be able to do for that," he hedges. "Don't you need powers to be a sidekick?" No amount of bacon is worth this.

Every word Scattershot says makes the prospect sound even worse. Sam probably wouldn't be in any real danger, but this really isn't how he envisioned his Monday off going. Still, Scattershot's stayed happy so far and it's best to keep him that way for a lot of reasons. "Well, I guess it couldn't hurt anything to try it just for a little while..." Except possibly his dignity when Kiley finds out why her donuts were late.

"Alright!" Scattershot finishes the rest of his rather sizable breakfast, then pulverizes the packaging into a fine rain of grease, plastic and paper, as he flips up into the tree, "Duel's at noon, so just keep an eye open for any villains going around till then."

Once she feels like she's squeezed the news for anything they're worth, Kiley takes note of the weather and increased security around town. Around this time, she starts feeling hungry. It's been a while since Sam asked about breakfast, so she shoots him a text.

My stomach is empty.

Leaning against the tree where Scattershot's posing, Sam checks his phone even though he knows perfectly well who and what he'll find. Keeping one eye open for any movement among the abandoned mines, he composes a quick response.

Shot in the dark, but it might have to be a late lunch instead.
Ran into a local celebrity who scattered my plans to the winds.

Back in her room, Kiley groans. She's not sure herself if she's groaning about having to get her own breakfast or about Sam's predicament. Or both. She quickly types out a re-response.

oh god. Need bailout? I have a huge everythingache

Sam's eyes flicker up to Scattershot before he responds.

Should be fine? He's a big ninja fan if you do though.

Sam

The next hour was rather uneventful, though the wind is picking up, along with a light drizzle dampening the mood...except for a dome over Scattershot, rain simply falling everywhere else, Scattershot hops back off the tree, "Alright, let's do this. Ronin'll be at the park, so...."

The rain starts twisting in crazy patterns before both Scattershot and Sam were catapulted skywards again with a whoop and an explosion at their feet, somehow staying dry all the way as they crash into and pancake a trash can without even a bump, blasting the ground clear of debris in a wide ring. "SCATTERSHOT HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!"

Kiley sighs. If he thinks it's fine, Sam should manage on his own.

k. drop call if you do need me.

With that message sent, she figures she'll have to get her own breakfast. And put on the costume under her clothes, just in case. Silently cursing Scattershot for compromising her breakfast delivery, Kiley gets to changing and finding her own donuts.

Getting the costume on is a miserable pain in the ass, and just about everywhere else. Kiley heads out to find the weather taking a turn for the wet. Fortunately, there is a Dunkin Donuts near the school.

Unfortunately it's packed to the door with hungry teens.

Sam glances around, a little apprehensively. Leaf Ronin should be somewhere nearby, but...On a whim, he checks the ground nearby for leaves.

In face of the weather, Kiley goes out with a windbreaker, which is a welcome excuse to keep the hood up and hide her sunburn for the most part. She shakes her head on seeing the crowd at Dunkin' and briefly feels strongly tempted to abuse her awesome cutting-in-line powers, but it's not worth it. She resigns herself to a boring wait and just listens to music through her earbuds.

Sam spies a ripple in the debris, moving against the shockwave that Scattershot is casually tossing about with their landing, comprised entirely of trash paper and fallen leaves.

The line is endless, and her feet are adding to the cacophony of aches by the time Kiley reaches the counter, with the selection of donuts quite decimated. She could wait, or be resigned to the limited selection at hand.

Not the most exciting selection, but it's good enough for Kiley. She orders a big breakfast plus a drink to go and makes to carry it back to her dorm while keeping it as dry as possible (by storing it inside herself, if she gets the chance to do so unobserved). On the way back, she tries to get buying a new stun gun out of the way too, while she's at it.

Kiley

A light drizzle has started up by the time her purchases are done, but it only takes a few moments in the washroom to stuff everything into her stomach without anyone the wiser. Looking for a replacement tazer would take a little more time however, the shop being quite a bit further from the school.

Sam takes a few steps backward from the encroaching leaves as though a little off-balance from the landing. Maybe he'll get lucky and Leaf Ronin will go after Scattershot instead of taking a hostage.
