Sam

The hit lands solidly, then Sam's decision to get out was proven to be wise as Scattershot repeats his stunt again, smashing the thugs about and knocking the last one out cold proper. "Spirited! I like that! Your phone is ringing, in case you didn't notice."

Sam lets out a long, slow breath, leaning against the nearby wall. "Uh, thanks. Hmm? Oh, right." He pulls out the phone, groaning inwardly when he sees the caller ID. "What's up?" he asks by way of answering the phone, a note of forced casualness injected into his voice.

"Mmphmumphmmmphmumph." Kiley mumbles something with her mouth full at first before swallowing and repeating herself. "That's what I want to know. Ended up getting donuts myself." She takes the first bite of her last chocolate donut before continuing. "You can't be in that much trouble if you're sending texts, so I figured I'd call. What exactly did you get yourself into?"

Sam looks from Scattershot and Leaf Ronin to the demolished storefront to the unconscious thugs. "Well, uh...I kind of sort of woundupgoingonpatrolwithScattershot." The last half of the sentence trails off as though he's hoping if Kiley doesn't hear it properly she won't ask for clarification.

Sam

While he talked on the phone, and Scattershot poked the thugs to be sure they're out, Sam realizes Leaf Ronin had been misplaced in the chaos.

"What? ...What?" The first 'what' is one of noncomprehension. The second comes after Kiley has parsed what Sam just told her and is letting it sink in. "...Are you special team cheating on me?"

"...What does that even mean?" Sam looks around in some mild confusion, wondering where Scattershot's unwilling accomplice (well, the other one) had gotten to. "No, I tried to keep him from blowing up the place where I was getting breakfast and then I got press-ganged into sidekick duty. I've already been shot at, I'm not too fond of the job."

"No, no trouble and none of the other stuff. Just a bit of hassle--" Sam waves to catch Scattershot's attention and jerks a thumb over his shoulder, mouthing Where's Leaf Ronin? "--I'm pretty sure it'll be over soon, then I can grab lunch or something for you on the way back and actually start my homework." He makes a mental note to come up with some sort of code phrases for situations like this the next time they pop up.

Scattershot looks at him quizzically for a moment, then makes the connection, hollering,"Again?! Come back! We're not done yet!"

"Well... if you say so. I'm gonna go out and get a new stunner, so stay safe. And away from crazy ninjas." The mild irony is largely lost on Kiley as she finishes her breakfast in peace. Lucky are those who decide to go out as little as possible.

"You too. Have fun shopping, I'll catch you later," Sam answers vaguely. Leaf Ronin's disappearance like - well, okay, like a ninja - is mildly worrying, especially after apparently having drawn his ire. With nothing else proving useful, Sam probes around for any scraps of mass floating around nearby in the hopes of tracking the missing Leaf Ronin. "Does he do this often?"

Sam

Scattershot looks annoyed, "He's supposed to to stick around until we can give Franco some trouble. NOW what do I do for bait?"

He seems to be giving Sam a considering look.

It wouldn't take a Thinker to figure out what Scattershot has in mind. "Ah, well, I'm sure he'll be sending someone around to investigate the commotion here, won't he? If you wait around long enough you're bound to find more of his lackeys. Best of luck, but I really should get going..." Sam smiles disarmingly, hoping to derail Scattershot's plans before he gets suckered into playing bait for the vigilante. Bad enough one of the thugs might recognize him and report back to Franco...

Sam

Scattershot mulls over the idea, then flicks a bit of former television, into his hand, extracting a marker pen from his pocket, "Oh alright, homework? Well, if you need a hero, just call."

A bit of TV screen with a phone number scribbled on it lands in Sam's hands, before Scattershot exits the scene vertically, leaving Sam alone with a scene of devastation, in the pouring rain.
"See ya. I'll see if I can find one of the others."

Sam waves a little belatedly before staring hopelessly around at the wreckage and sighing. There's really no point in calling someone. No police force would come out this way unless they really had to. He pokes his head back into the shop briefly to make sure no one's bleeding out or has a broken neck before hurrying on down the street, pocketing Scattershot's number. Time enough to check in on Kiley later, once he's put a fair few blocks between himself and this mess.

Somewhat calmed down but still concerned, Kiley pockets her phone after the call ends and finishes her breakfast before reluctantly heading out again to get a replacement stun gun.

Sam

The thugs seem to be bleeding badly, but probably not fatally, from a spectacular number of abrasions. No broken necks at least.

Kiley

The rain proves some impediment to vision, but doesn't really pose much of an obstacle on her way to the gun shop. The streets are empty, save for a moment where three vans drive past, well past the speed limit. After a bit of a walk, Kiley finds herself at the door of "General Self Defense", the unimaginatively named shop which sells personal firearms, light body armor and nonlethal weapons. The entrance is narrow, and the windows tinted to make the inside barely visible.

A few minutes later, Sam ducks into an alleyway out of the rain and pulls out his phone. After putting Scattershot's name into his contacts, under "S.S.," he calls Kiley, picking at the edges of the bullet hole in his jacket and grumbling. "This was one of my favorite jackets..."
