Wystan looks at the bottle, unsure of just what message sending capabilities it has.  "I do not want to start taking things that I don't have a right to, I didn't help get these items."

Axejack pointedly leaned against the now empty safe, having just gone about bagging everything up for later, proper inspection, and stood about in deep thought and crossed arms trying to recall their objective here. But then something else was recalled first.

"Oy! The well! I assume it'd been long enough to run out of smoke. Is the monster still down there? Aye, I recall a certain doctor mentioning a unique looking gem embedded in the thing's eye. Heh, never one to forget mentions of treasure, nay."

And then, clearly as an afterthought, the dwarf took to addressing the newbie finally. "I suppose not much objection to your walking with us. Our destination is the Dragon Tower, chasing after a certain Blueberry. Our stop here was mere bad luck. Or good luck from your perspective had you become victim to the events here alone as you arrived, heheh. We are currently on track on Roanoke on the border of Taphos. Then I believe following Rhine's rivers by boat was suggested....We can get reoriented from there."

And finally, as a last sort of after-afterthought, to Drosselmeyer. "Last question, promise. Do you know anything about the thing that was set on fire in the well over there? Also these keys? I've entirely forgotten if we ever found a use for them but they were under the door mat. Although likely not matters as the house has gone...missing." he holds up the set of keys they'd found, mostly making a point to point out the oddly invisible key on the ring. "It'd be right terrible to have lost what I can only safely assume to be something quite valuable as to be locked away with an invisible key, aye. Right terrible...I'm going to hate climbing down this hole just to get all that loot." he finishes rather sarcastically.

The ground around the house is deformed and distorted.  The well exists, sort of, half sunk down the wall of the great sinkhole which has opened up.  Accessing it again will be difficult.  Whatever treasures are down there may be lost, unless you're feeling risky and want to cliffhang over the bottomless pit.

Your destination is indeed the Dragon Tower, deep within the veil.  The closest city is Roanoke, and there should be a small village and trading depot en route if you want to make a bit of a detour.  It would be good for the purpose of selling and identifying things, though word is that the trading depots are a bit more expensive/frugal than the cities for the services they provide.

The rat swarm is already heading off down the road, leaving just Drosselmeyer behind.  The old rat's face is buried in maniscripts and maps as he is trying to make sense of a personal quandary.  "The well, the well, I remember it... not well.  All I recall is fear and hate from it.  The Baron's wife was mauled by that thing, that thing in the well.  So he went to fix her hand so she would be beautiful again.  That's all I know of it.  Even though the Baron I am not, I feel a sense of relief knowing that whatever it was, it was sealed up tight.  I doubt it will be freed now.

Do what you wish with the keys, for the house is no more.

I suppose I will be off then, if there is nothing further to do.  Farewell humans."
He gathered his maps, flinging them over his back, and began a long walk down the road.

Matsu says "Well Axejack... it seems the well is down the side of the pit... I suppose I could get one of us in there, if they really wanted to try and retrieve that gem... but it would only be one, at a time at least."

The slopes of the pit are able to be climbed.  Assuming you can get enough rope, at least 70 ft of it, and a firm anchor somewhere you can make it down with a DC 5 Climb check (or DC 20 without rope).

Matsu mentally directs the small, crystalline spider that he keeps with him, and it climbs over the edge of the chasm and begins heading down towards the mouth of the displaced well.

Magana proceeds to attempt to climb over the edge, only to fail miserably.  Oh monkey trumpets! she screams as plummets to her doom.

The psicrystal begins a slow and steady descent down the pit's walls.  Progress takes time, but it is working.  You may recall your previous visit, and the burning ember from within the dead beast's eye.  You weren't able to get it last time, as your crystal had not the limbs to carry it.  This problem remains, but fortunately Magana seemed willing to follow and clamber down the edge.

No sooner had she slipped down did the clot of earth she had grasp rip free from its surroundings, gravity tearing her from safety into certain death.  She reached out to grab the lip of the well, but missed and ended up spinning back from the impact down... down... down... down...

CRACK!!!

There was some small fortune involved.  After nearly 80 ft of falling you crash through the twisted remains of the shed where they kept the horses, its structure only held in place by the shards of purple magicite now pushing through the upturned earth.  Magana crashes through the boards, and her arm catches a massive shard which pierces skin, fractures bone, and jams her upper arm in a jagged array of splinters and rock.  Your movement has been arrested, at the cost of 22 damage and 3 Con damage.  You have been maimed, a problem which you will have to address later but will take some time to heal.  Your arm is without a doubt fractured.

But, you are alive.  But how will you get back up here.  The well is a "mere" 30 ft away.  Your platform is stable at the moment, but too much jerking may cause it to fall into the abyss.  Proceed with caution.
Mudada.

Matsu says with a detached voice "Hmm... it's seems our cannibal has nearly fallen to her death. I guess I'll have to save her..."

He yells down the side "Don't worry, Magana! I'll save you! Just make sure you get the gem out of the dead beast's eye! Otherwise, you'll have mangled yourself for nothing!"

Then, after the psicrystal is safely within the mouth of the old well, he nods and the toothy girl and the crystal change places with a flash and a pop.

The wooden boards creek as the pressure is lifted, and Magana finds herself in the smoked out and now sideways well mouth.  You've been saved!  And your arm hurts like a bitch.  In the darkness of the well, you can make out shards of magicite in your wound.  That won't be good.  Ironically it's probably the only thing giving off light in here.  That, and the dull glow of the ember up ahead.

The scorched out remains of a great furred beast await you, with a dull glowing ember in place of its heat-popped eye.  The thing is lashed to the wall by heavy iron chains which, due to the change in gravity, now dangle the corpse in front of you like a grotesque tapestry.

You feel an ill presence in here, but see nothing.  What do you do?

Magana hobbles over to the furry beast and grabs the gem with her good arm.  Whoever is hiding, come on out!  I'm really not in the mood for this.  Hello?

Matsu directs the psicrystal to climb back up onto the safe area around the pit, and then yells back down "Magana, were you able to get the crystal yet? Let me know when you are ready to come back out!"

"If you're too injured and going to die down there, try tossing the gem up first!" the former-paladin adds, adjusting the fit of the cape. over her armour. The high collar is a neat touch, really, and it seems like it goes well with her ring.

Matsu just stares at the former paladin for a moment, and then says "What DID they do to you down there?"

Matsu rubs his hands together and says in a somewhat hushed voice "Exxxxcellent." and in a *poof* the psicrystal dissappears, and Morgana appears in its place.
